"Sub standrad Premier Inn"
This is a sub standard premier inn with a poor breakfast and dingy restaurant like a bad cafe. Our TV had poor reception and rooms needed upgrading. The staff and service were not very good and wanted to charge us extra for tea bags.
"Lovely stay"
Hotel had welcoming and friendly staff. Lovely clean hotel and really nice breakfast which catered for all of the family.
"Highly recommend"
Lovely clean rooms and food is amazing very attentive staff always happy to help and support nothing is too much trouble
"Good hotel let down by early check in"
We have stayed here many times, the staff are lovely and the rooms are very clean in an ideal location. They have to sort out 'paid for' early check in - we checked in at home before we arrived and when we tried to get into our rooms there were still people in them - we had to wait 2 hours to get our rooms ( if P inn are reading this please don't quote' if available' - we checked in at home beforehand, they know we're coming!) The lady on check in couldn't do enough to try and sort the situation - they seem to have been left high and dry by head office ( they weren't even told that guests can check in at home !)
"Tired rooms"
We have stayed here several times over the last few years but have now found things getting worse. They are now finding ways of adding on charges, such as charging more for sea views, even if in a prem plus room. £15 for an early check in, even if your room is ready and it's 30 mins before check i time, 3pm. The car park charges have also risen from £3 last year to now £8. If staying more than 1 night, you need to request that your room is cleaned each day, yet you are paying the same as a guest checking in. Whitehead are skimping on thing such as thus and safety related issues. The rooms are all now due a refurbishment or a bit of redecorating at least. And we found all the electrical items in the room to be way out of date of their PAT testing. This is an annual test to ensure electrical items are safe to use. We found some, last tested In 2021, which I raised and was told they know they are out if date and looking at doing it. They had no spare in date items, and when I returned the next week in another room, they were out of date in there aswell. Totally unacceptable and a risk to the public and staff. There is no real management at these hotels, or we didn't see any evidence of it, or I would have been contacted after raising safety related issues such as the PAT. The only staff member worth recognising for good service was the breakfast chef. He was very friendly and helpful and recognised me from the previous week. In summary, they have now lost a often returning guest as we will now stay elsewhere, in fact we have booked at the orchards in a caravan in October, cheaper, more facilities in the van and cheaper, even paying for a cab to and from the oark to clacton. Whitehead are going to lise more customers if they continue scrimping on maintenance and adding charges wherever they can. Don't srsy here until these safety issues are resolved.
