"Two nights in Clacton - An OK Premier Inn"
Stayed for couple of nights at the start of a very hot August in 2026.
First of all, the location of the hotel is first class. Right on the coast road, literally a 2 minute walk to the promenade path and associated gardens which are quite nice if you like that type of thing. A little further you have the pier and the usual things that go with that - be warned, if you have kids with you, it will cost a fortune (although they do have some special offers). There's a few pubs and restaurants nearby - you're never short of somewhere to get a pint and a nibble to eat.
The room was OK - I'd pay a little extra for a view - better than looking at the car park. Talking of the car park, that's £8.80 if you stay for a night - pay on exit if you're a Premier Inn guest.
A good size room, pretty standard Premier Inn fayre. The shower was a bit hit and miss when it came to pressure and temperature stability, but still did the job.
What I didn't like was it's attempt at a bar. I much prefer having a proper bar with at least a couple of draught products - but that's just me. The cost was probably a bit more than usual as it was a weekend in the school holidays (Thursday and Friday night) and the by-election was on. £293 (BnB, no breakfast)
We had breakfast in the Lounge Bar on the promenade - a 5 minute or so walk away.
I'd stay there again if need be.

"Run down, little communication but perfect location"
Perfect location on the sea front, as expected busy when you are trying to check in but with no clear guidelines of who's in the line etc and then allowing someone to butt in when we were talking about breakfast times, was not good. However the staff in the bar area was very helpful.
The hotel seems a bit run down, not usual premier inn quality, even the room too, everything just needs an update.
When we finally booked a slot for breakfast, we went down and there was signs up saying their kitchen had problems, so we had to go an find breakfast elsewhere, there should have been some sort of communication before we got down to the breakfast room.
We've stayed a few times before and it's just seeming less likely we will be staying in future.

"you can't be serious!!!!!"
Premier plus with sea view. At least we expected to get a room that mirrored the title. The bathroom was tiny(no cat swinging in here), with no shaver socket provided. The room was just about adequate but with no USB sockets to recharge modern day gadgets, no drawers for clothes and room service only if you asked them on each day by 9am!!! Being a corner room, the sea view was possible only if you got clos to the window and twisted the neck round to see it-what a farce. When booking I requested awalk in shower or a lowered bath( because of our mobility issues). We got neither and the bath height was so high we were not able to get in to have a shower under the dinner plate shower(no alternative). When booking we also wanted to reserve our breakfast times but were told we could only do this at check in( WOW). Now the check in is now automated!!!!. This means entering your name and post code and it all happens, you might think. Not so because one has to then go to the reception desk to obtain the room number, the room keys, pay for the stay, and to reserve your breakfast times. MANUALLY. The of we go to get the lift to the room-NOT WORKING( so far for 10 days) The receptionist has to go to the rear of the lift and have it opened from the service entrance( Manually). All well now, sadly not. Our preferred breakfast times of 9:30 was not available, but we could have 8:00 am. The hotel was evidently full with holiday makers, yet the restaurant had decided to close at 9:30. Some management. No, a great disappointment from what used to be a pleasant and welcoming place to stay. Premier inn is owned by WHITBREAD together with other companies
