Clacton-on-Sea (North/Colchester Road) hotel

I spend a lot of time in various Premier Inns as our company uses them quite regularly when we work around the country so Ive spent a lot of time and seen a variety of standards of this chain. Normally I dont leave reviews however 1 member of staff (Lacey) really impressed me with her professionalism, effort and demeanour. When we arrived at the hotel a number of guests also arrived at the same time making the reception area extremely crowded in a very short space of time. Lacey who was initially dealing with some laundry/bedding stopped what she was doing and managed to deal with all the arrivals in a methodical manner whilst ensuring everyone was acknowledged and processed in a timely manner. She was on her own and despite being up against it never let her enthusiasm and politeness falter while she dealt with all the arrivals. About an hour later I spotted her again juggling a number of customers in the same upbeat and professional manner. Good customer service is rarely recognised nowadays with most people only leaving reviews when things go wrong so I wanted to give her a bit of recognition for her outstanding efforts. The only reason why I left a 4 star review was primarily due to the attached restaurant which seemed to be running a very reduced service/menu for breakfast and evening meal. In the end we cancelled our breakfast and got a refund as there was no hot food and a number of things were broken (coffee machine) given we were working long hours the lack of these facilities really impacted us fortunately there was a Greggs across the road which helped but as we were here for the week there is only so much they can do. Other than that the hotel was fine (the new fans are a lot better especially in current conditions) but the primary reason for the review was down to the efforts of Lacey who really impressed my colleague and I.

Great as a stop over nice room coffee facilities lovely bedding not bad for the price! However we paid for meal deal at £27.99 each adult for breakfast and dinner.. I would really advise against this… the menu was limited and two items not available… everything hot was heavily deep fried which was just too much … would rather have eaten McDonald which I never eat… not worth the money… the chef never arrived for the breakfast so we didn’t get any hot food.. got a refund for breakfast so may be worth sorting your own food if you stay here! McDonald is across the road! No air conditioning but a nice fan available! Very hot room

I’m afraid to say this was an awful stay and I wish I had stayed at a Hoilday Inn. The hotel was like an oven , the car park was noisy and generally it felt a bit grubby . There were cotton sheets available but the one we got had a large mystery stain on it! We were told we would have a king size bed -it was a double The bar/ restaurant next door is an embarrassment to the chains owners .The seats , chairs and table were cracked and sticky because they were so old .I didn’t try the food as the whole place was so rundown . You won’t see this site on one of Premier Inn’s adverts !

Sorry to say, but the room temperature was with 28.5 way too high to get a decent sleep. Fans did not help made more noise then provided cooling, window could open a little bit and did not make a difference either only made us hear traffic noise alnight true. I would absolutely not recommend to stay here in the warmer months of the year

Perfect clean good sleep in cool room , in this heatwave at the moment.. breakfast and evening meal was fab too. Good atmosphere to the whole place. Thankyou
