Poole Centre (Holes Bay) hotel

We went there as we had an early sailing to the channel islands. Normally we know we can rely upon Premier Inn, not least for a good nights sleep. That was one of the worst nights sleep I have ever had. My wife suffered the same. The bed felt like it was made of bricks. There were insufficient pillows. We couldn't control the temperature. The food I would describe as adequate. Breakfast OK. Evening meal adequate. Not the sort of experience I expect from a Premier Inn.

When I entered the room, there was a faecal smell. The bathroom had a long wet patch in front of the toilet, which had lots of stains and the sink was covered with hair and dirt. When I was waiting in the queue to speak to reception, the head cleaner asked me if there was any problem. After we had explained everything, she went to check on the room. While waiting in reception, we overheard a lady complaining about how disgusting her room was when she arrived. When the head cleaner came back, she explained that she couldn’t smell anything in the room and that we were probably smelling the bay. She had cleaned the wet patch in front of toilet, and said that the stains in the toilet were just limescale. I said to her if it was the smell from the bay, why I couldn’t smell anything two rooms down where the cleaner was cleaning when I walked in to speak to. She said not all the rooms would get the smell from the bay, but we couldn’t find the same smell anywhere else in or around the hotel. We suspected the toilet seat had a leak so she reluctantly walked away to get a plumber to check. Throughout the whole conversation her tone felt argumentative, hostile and she was reluctant to accept any fault on her part. When she returned with the plumber, he explained there was no leak and that no customers had no complained about their rooms. I explained that I had literally just heard a guest complain to reception how her room was not cleaned properly. The plumber was quiet, the head cleaner answered me back in an angry tone, saying that they had never said they had no complaints. Eventually, she unhappily asked the reception to swop the room for me. The receptionist was very apologetic and helpful, something the head cleaner never demonstrated. The second room had no any bad smell, but the sink had an old cup stain, with some dirt and hairs. We spoke to the receptionist and he cleaned the sink throughly for us, which was supposed to be cleaner’s job, not his. This experience ruined our first day on holiday.

Location fine, either a 30 min walk into town or grab an Uber for about £7. The walk is pleasant enough. No staff were present when I arrived and check in was via the app and touchscreen machines. Plenty of parking, but make sure you register your car on the machine in reception. Rooms were decent enough and clean, but slightly tired. Air con worked fine and kept the room cool but a little bit noisy. Breakfast wasn’t worth it. The pub where it’s served is like a labyrinth and is very busy. It’s also tired.

HOLES BAY Filthy, dilapadated disgusting ex pub. This pub should be shut down. Service terrible, we were told they cant get staff because the place is so filthy and run by a female manager who just doesnt care. Many items on the menu not available. This disgusting, filthy pub should be shut down. Whitbread you should be ashamed of yourselves
