Poole Centre (Holes Bay) hotel

Whilst the breakfast was the usual one expects from a Premier Inn, something has to be said about the evening fare. Portion sizes could not be described as generous; barely adequate would be a better description. Prices did not reflect this, however, as they were generally £2-3 more expensive than average, and usually more generous, pub meals. A special mention must be made of one of the starters, the ‘Loaded Nachos’. It appeared to have been constructed by somebody who had once heard of a loaded nachos but was relying on a very bad translation of a Spanish recipe. Costing somewhere between £6 and £7, it entered on a bread-and-butter plate. It consisted of a very small handful of cold (!) corn chips, with miniscule squirts of cheese sauce and tomato sauce, accompanied by what purported to be sliced jalapeño peppers, but looked and tasted like sliced gherkin soaked in chili sauce. The plate had not been near an oven – unless the waiter carried it past one on the way to our table. A Loaded Nachos at our local satisfies as a main meal; a large oval plate, generous corn chips, plenty of cheese actually melted over the chips, then lashings of tomato salsa, jalapeños, and plenty of sour cream. Admittedly, it is £2-3 more, but even half of it is twice the size of what we were offered. One can only hope that this, and other poor reviews of their evening fare, will encourage management to take steps to revise their menu and either lower prices or raise portion sizes… and give up on ‘Loaded Nachos’ completely. (I must add we have no complaints about the staff or their service. They were courteous and obliging.)

Desperately understaffed. The poor bar lady had to double as a waitress. She was imploding. The kitchen was not receiving the orders so after a very long wait, a manager advised another customer to go to a chip shop down the road. The whole thing was a bit Fawlty Towers. Check in was arduous. They could not find my booking because the machine was glitching. All rather stressful. On the plus side, bedroom big, comfortable and clean. Good parking and close to ferry terminal. GET MORE STAFF.

Great room just refurbished with aircon which was welcome as outside over 30 degrees Restaurant was a joke the hotel was busy .. only 2 lovely waitresses serving bar and food ..long wait for food Only 1 chef !!! Had to send my meal back… medium steak running with blood, mushroom uncooked and peas hard as bullets !!! Had to wait for the second attempt !!! Where was the management to support ????

Hotel was great as it is in the middle of refurbishment. Great staff etc. As for the restaurant next door absolutely awful! 2 front of house staff and one chef as we kept being told. Not sure how many waiting staff there were as I lost the will to live, and left, even though I had booked a table. Bank holiday Monday! Managed need to sort themselves out!!!! Most people left restaurant.

Lovely location by the sea. The newly done room was beautiful and great value for money.
