Christchurch / Highcliffe hotel

Like Highcliffe High St this Hotel is looking tired ,run down and shabby .The bedrooms don't feel or look clean. The beds themselves are well past their use by date resulting in a poor nights sleep and the bathrooms feel the same. The dining areas in the adjacent pub are of the same ilk. Tatty tables and chairs and unattractive decor. The whole place needs a total revamp as it looks like it hasn't seen a lick of paint in 20 years. Extra charges to park a car are unacceptable. The only plus points i can give are the cooked breakfast is good, the continental not so. A place to stay really as a last resort.

Nothing wrong with the Premier Inn itself, that lived up to expectations but was not at all impressed by the restaurant which was a pub turned into Premier Inn restaurant. First night I eat there a lot of dishes weren't available and the staff kept taking my order and then heaving to come back and say it wasn't available. Second evening tghere were only two staff serving and one of them was being trained. They were rushed off their feet until a third person appeared eventually. I waited a very long time for my food. I was also surprised that the hot food at breakfast wasn't buffet style but had to be ordered.

Was a bit dubious about booking at Christchurch Highcliffe after reading some reviews left. But, we would like to say that we had a lovely 3 night stay at this location. It's been a long time since we stayed at a Premier Inn but, as soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by extremely pleasant, friendly, helpful staff on the reception. They explained everything we needed to know about our stay. Yes, you have to pay £3 per 24hrs for the car park but still cheaper than some we've parked in. Our room when we entered, smelt fresh & clean and looked immaculate. No nasties on the bed sheets, floors or in the bathroom. Plenty of towels etc in the bathroom, with the option to have more if needed, that also includes the tea & coffee section. The bed & pillows were amazing, no saggy mattress or pillows. (will be buying a set of pillows, as they stopped my husband's snoring) 10/10 to the housekeeping team doing a great job. The team in the restaurant were just as welcoming, polite & very helpful when ordering, explaining all the different foods & always asked if we had any allergies etc. We only had the unlimited breakfast's each morning. But, every morning we were greeted with a warm welcome. Every breakfast was freshly cooked & extremely tasty, with a vast selection to choose from. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and we will definitely be back to stay there again. Well done to all the staff at Highcliffe & thank you for making it a very pleasant stay for us both.

Hotel was absolutely fine. Very much in line with all other Premier Inns which we like. This is more a message to management. I know there are changes in the company but don’t leave employees like Maddi exposed in the way you have. She was serving breakfast ALONE. I’ve never seen this in a Premier Inn before. She was amazing but inevitably service was slow. I can only imagine how she was feeling under such pressure from guests. Sort this out as it is irresponsible and unsafe leadership.

Overall, our experience was okay, but there were a few things that let the stay down. Having to pay extra for parking on top of an already £120 per night stay felt a little cheeky, particularly as many of the Premier Inns I stay at offer free parking, where you simply register your number plate on a touchscreen in the lobby. When we first entered the room, there was a screwed-up receipt on the floor just inside the door, as well as a Chupa Chups wrapper on the bathroom floor. Finding rubbish left behind made us question how thoroughly the room had actually been cleaned. The breakfast, however, was nice and well cooked, and we had no complaints with the food. The pub itself was a different matter. The carpet was extremely sticky in places, and there was a lot of furniture stacked up around the pub, giving the impression that refurbishment work was either underway or needed. Overall, the area looked tired and could do with some attention to bring it up to the standard I would normally expect from a Premier Inn. So, while the stay was generally okay, the cleanliness issues, additional parking charge and tired condition of the pub meant it didn't quite live up to expectations.
