Christchurch (East) hotel

Dirty room cob webs and dust on the walls obviously hasn’t been properly cleaned for a while just the basics Very noisy fan in bathroom that didn’t actually remove steam even after been for breakfast

Went to our room, found it very dark, hardly no lighting, room was very hot, & a fan supplied, not much good as window didn't open much so hot air was blowing around, bath still had last guest scum rings around it, floor hadn't been hoovered, went and told receptionist, she said she will get it sorted, my husband and I made our self scarce for a couple of hours, found out the receptionist tried to clean it, it was better than it was, then as I walked around the bed I found a dirty pair of slippers, went back to complain, she gave us another room, wasn't much better, I ended up cleaning the bath, toilet, and all other units as were very grubby,also a quilt under the bed in a bin bag. Iwas kept up all night by doors banging, lady who saw us to our table at breakfast was very grumpy, she stuck us near a AC unit, so we had a cold breakfast, when I mentioned it to her the next morning, no apology, she just said it comes on automatically, and just walked away, The tables in the restaurant were very sticky and the food was very dry It's a shame because I have been to this hotel alot, and it's a shame it's gone downhill so quick. It needs a good lick of paint and a nice welcome.

We booked to stay here as the location was convenient for visiting family. The room was incredibly hot, no air conditioning and the window could barely be opened. There was a fan noise that did not stop even when all lights switched off. Only stopped when we took card out of holder by the door but we only realised this in the morning after being kept awake all night by the sound! Breakfast was not very appetising. The fried eggs were congealed, the scrambled were rubbery. We weren't told we could have ordered poached but saw someone doing this as we left. The cut up fruit was dry and going brown. There was only one towel in the room despite the fact that we had booked for two people. The stairway smelled awful. One of our key cards did not work and had to be reprogrammed. So given all of that, we wished we had stayed at home! We won't be coming back.

The hotel and restaurant/ bar are in desperate need of renovation. It is very grubby and dated. Breakfast was good. Location is OK.

Room was dusty, carpets were dirty and needed vacuuming- bed sheets dirty, we requested these were changed. Evening colleague was unbothered and somewhat irritated by our interaction
