"Excellent Stay"
My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay with breakfast and dinner at the Premier Inn Bournemouth Central Hotel. We are in our 70s. I do not often write reviews but feel the need on this occasion. Having booked tickets for a concert at the nearby Pavillion Theatre, I booked our hotel stay many months on advance. Whilst looking for the hotel telephone number the week before our stay, I came across some reviews that caused me worry – one in particular from ‘Dream66760910154’ and I do now wonder whether he or she accidentally put the review against the wrong hotel? In order to alleviate or otherwise my anxiety I contacted Premier Inn and received information and reassurance from a very nice and kind lady. We arrived in Bournemouth and walked from the railway station to the hotel. Conscious of the worrying review’s comments about some rather strange and smelly men and the Premier Inn lady telling us the hotel was next to the YMCA, we approached with a little nervousness. Yes the YMCA was there but with no sign of anyone or any noise outside or inside as seen from the street. On all of our forays into the street there was no sign of anyone, even on our late return from the concert, until the last morning as we walked back to the station at around 10am when we saw two very young men outside – one sitting on a step relaxing and one walking along using his mobile. They seemed quite normal and not at all intimidating! The actual hotel has, so the lady called him, a security guard on the door. He was absolutely charming and could perhaps be reclassified as a ‘the man who welcomes guests’. Once past the man on the door, people could move freely to reception, the lifts and stairs and the bar and restaurant. On the other floors, a room key card was needed to get into the room corridors so anyone who was not meant to be there would have access to the stairs and a very small landing area only – not that we saw any errant wanderers during our stay. Given that the reception staff seem clued up about guests (my husband left his cap in the restaurant on the first evening – I got to reception desk the next morning to be told that the gentleman there had identified two tall men as potential owners of the cap and he had already asked the other man and was waiting to see my husband walk through reception!) I suspect wayward rovers are anyway rare. We saw none. Our room was delightful. OK I would have preferred to be able to open the balcony door wide and not had it on a very short security fastening but I accept that health and safety rules are what they are. Due to the comments about bed linen, my first action was to carefully examine the bed in detail. At my age I have a lot of experience of beds and bed linen, and have washed countless sets of linen myself, so I am quite knowledgeable. The linen was bright white, nicely pressed and smelt ‘clean’. I had absolutely no concerns over general room or hotel cleanliness either. The carpets were stained in places but this looked to be the result of cleaned up spillages that stained rather than dirty carpets. And yes the décor in some places was nearer the date for redecorating than the date it was done. It is the circle of life. So no strange smells and no dirty hotel. The staff without exception were pleasant and helpful and clearly enjoy their jobs. They are indeed a credit to Premier Inns. The food impressed us. For the price it was excellent. Although we had purchased meal deals, we kept to our normal fruit, yoghurt etc. breakfast. Fruit salads especially in hotels can be iffy – this one was extremely good with good quality fruit. I looked at the cooked breakfast food and it all looked very well cooked and presented and people were certainly tucking in. There was a wide choice of evening meal. We would certainly use the meal deal option again. All in all a hotel that at least maintains the good standard of Premier Inns. While I have yet to experience a ‘poor’ Premier Inn, I might even say that this one was better than the average.
"Not a good stay"
Time away after my treatment for cancer we came here as been a few times in the last few years and had normally enjoyed it. I've just finished treatment for cancer and needed a little break .we booked a premier plus room 1st one was by lift so husband went to ask change room came back other room they gave us wasn't a premier Inn + room so back he went 3 rd room balcony but can only open slight the door as apparently health and safety it's a new thing he said .. there was a light out in bathroom .. air con wasn't working .. the shower was to hot no thing to turn down temperature .. breakfast was cold didn't have summer fruits next morning so disappointed as booked continental so only had 2 croissants..also when husband said about last room when they changed it one receptionist said to other check phone for maintenance as Thier was a issue he just turned and said room ok. But obviously there was a few issues so should of not be sold ..it was also like a sauna when we checked in guess the fan was because air con wasn't working but nobody told us that.. made the break not good at all just wanted couple days to recover ..
"Seaside view"
I love the room coz it's facing the seaside. Also is also accessible coz its only few walks to the town and the beach. I love the spacious room.
"Have stayed many times before, would not stay again"
Very little amount of staff waited and buzzed at reception just to check in. Bathroom was very small and couldn’t access toilet roll and easily as too close. Toilet didn’t flush properly. Widows and balcony door restricted so view was ruined. Have to find your own parking.
