Exmouth Seafront hotel

As per other reviews please check that the renovations have been completed before booking this hotel. The place is a building site. Completely shrouded in scaffolding that rattled at night making a good nights sleep impossible. The accommodation area was filthy covered in builder’s dust. The poor staff on site by their on admission were under resourced but were doing their level best. We over heard them advising people to book elsewhere but the business was happy to take our money up front. I’ve complained to Guest Relations but have so far been fobbed off with responses obviously from the corporate hand book, now awaiting contact from a manager. Breath not held.

I wasn’t made aware how extensive the work being carried out on the building and there were only twenty rooms available.

Stayed here 12 months ago and we loved it with a sea view room that’s why we came back again. As was a surprise for my wife’s birthday . We we turned the corner and seen the scaffold and tarpaulin we were shocked ans it looks like a building site. We entered and was greeted by a self check in machine After getting to room number 125 we opened the door to see a view of scaffold and a man in hi viz vest at the window working so had to keep the curtains closed we went down stairs to complain and apparently we should have had a email telling us about the building works which we never got and the lady gave us a card and just complain After an 4 hour drive we just wanted a power nap before we went out for lunch but couldn’t because of living on a building site My wife suffers with bad asthma so the dust in the air was affecting her breathing so had to stay out as long as we could The corridors have foot prints all over form work men coming in and out After speaking to some locals they said it’s been an eye sore for over 12 months We paid full price for 2 nights stay in a building site To make it worse we had to pay £16 to park under a tree due to builders vans in carpark and the sea gulls had exploded over it and it cost me £16 to get it washed This is a building site and should no be open

We were not informed of the whole hotel being surrounded by scaffold.Idealy situated for the local amenities. At night there was a humming sound that kept you awake at times. The staff were good but kept getting people turning up whose booking had been cancelled due to no room availability.

I always book a Premier Inn as you can pretty much grmuarantee a good stay and value for money. This experience was awful we paid around £125 for room 126 we were not informed that the entire buildong is covered in scaffolding and there is ongoing extensive building works, this was certainly not reflected in the price and we had no pre warning. Them poor man on reception was also having to work in restaurant, he seemed stressed and agreed entirely with my disgust as what we had walked into. Room 126 was the only room they use as the front of the hotel opposite the sea (very odd) scaffolding all outside, room smelt bad even the evening porter agreed when he came to see for hislmself and said he would make a note! The bed looked like a child had made it, no throw, one pillow each, very uninviting. The side board table had marks all over, lamp had a huge stain and the artwork was appalling. WiFi didnt appear to work in the room but was too late in the evening to do anything about it. It felt dirty and by far not the experience we were expecting! So disappointing. On top of it all you pay £8 parking. The gentlemen on check in said he would sort this cost out for us as he realised how upset we were. Hoping we dont now get a ticket penalty through the post! The hallway through to room very shabby and dirty. Room very smelly. Just awful. I have complained to Premier Inn so I await my response
