"Room with a view 🤔"
Room with a view, well I paid extra for their new option “room with a view” and I wasn’t disappointed. If you love watching planes it’s a good location, maybe pack some binoculars but in all fairness you can see which plane it is taking off/landing. Is it worth the extra fee pounds, yes if you like plane spotting or want to be entertained before your holiday.
"Hotel"
Great hotel, lovely food Costa coffee opens 24hrs,bar closes at 3am,Sophie the bartender pull a good pint of Guinness, also rooms are lovely, beds very comfortable,
"Particularly average"
Don’t expect much from the Gatwick North Premier Inn. The food in the evening was poor (breakfast was good) and the family room is a normal room but just with two additional beds squashed in. Very impractical.
"Good but could improve"
The staff provided excellent assistance, and the reception handled the room bookings efficiently. The food was also quite satisfactory. On the other hand, there was some dust on the table lamp in my room, which was noticeable enough to write on with a finger or stick, causing some concern due to my hay fever allergies. Nevertheless, the room served its purpose as a place to rest before my early flight.
"Never again!"
I had already checked in online (after an unnecessary struggle with their sub-par app!). When I arrived at the hotel following a long flight, I simply wanted to collect our key from the machine. I was, instead, beckoned over by a member of staff who then took three times as long to find my booking and code the key card. He was trying to be helpful, but it took so long. Having used the machines previously, I know it would have been so much quicker. Upon arrival at our room I was surprised to find the sofa bed and put up bed were both set up - I booked a double room for 2 guests (the app insisted on the name of my partner, so it was abundantly clear we had 2 people!). The put up bed was squashed between the sofa bed and one side of the double bed. I then noticed the double bed duvet was not tucked in as it usually would be. I was then horrified to find an empty packet of Walkers Crisps under the duvet (Worcestershire Sauce flavour). I believe someone had already slept in the room (even worse, someone who ate Worcestershire Sauce crisps)! After the debacle of trying to get the key card and considering it was already 2am, we checked the bed and decided the least worst option was to simply sleep on top of the duvet with fresh pillows from the shelf. We couldn't take trekking back to reception, waiting for the staff member to work out what was going on and then to collect our heavy bags and move to another room. We then experienced a chaotic breakfast. There was no breakfast host to greet us for several minutes. When she arrived she appeared flustered and over worked. She took our names and handed us a 'reserved' sign and told us to find a table. We were not told how the buffet worked, or given a clue where we would find an empty / clean table. We eventually cleared one ourselves and reset it with cutlery from the staff area. Not the level of service we expected and hardly ideal when we were already tired. The food appeared as though it had been left out under heat lamps for too long, which was surprising as the hotel seemed busy, so I'd assume the food turnover would be reasonably quick. I suspect they batched cooked so much and kept it under heat lamps before replenishing the buffet. I've never had 'slices' of scrambled egg quite like them before... We were exhausted and therefore wanted to maximise our sleep time in the room. We were horrified when the rudest cleaner I have ever experienced knocked on the door at 11.50am. She looked at her watch, tapped it with one finger and said "you need to leave, check out is at 12". We hadn't unpacked and were literally trying to enjoy the last 10 minutes before rolling out our cases and embarking on another long journey - fully expecting to have to leave by 12. I politely informed her we would of course be gone by 12, she then said words to the effect of "you just need to go". This was the cherry on top of the stay and cemented that - despite staying at this hotel on multiple occasions - we never ever will again.
