‘Tis the Sign of the Season

For so many of us, carols and classic songs are one of the most festive parts of Christmas. It’s how a lot of us know Christmas has really begun – it’s not just cold and dark anymore, it’s Christmas! Singing together at Christmas also helps a lot of us get together, in a way we just haven’t been able to for so long.

With this in mind, we’ve decided to try something new this year – with the help of some very special VIP partners, we’ve created Sign of the Season, a multi-sensory Christmas carol that uses Makaton, British Sign Language (BSL) and body percussion to include everyone.

Sign of the Season is a mash up of all our favourite carols, all in the spirit of raising money for the GOSH Charity Annual Christmas appeal and helping kids take a step back home.

Making Sign of the Season

Our choir

Our choir

To make Sign of the Season the best it could be, we teamed up with Strictly Come Dancing celebrity choreographer Sean Moon and Gogglebox’s Tom Malone along with the UK’s top sign-singer Fletch, the Royal Variety performers Some Voices choir and, best of all, children and young people supported by GOSH.

Everyone came together to make something extra special to support GOSH this Christmas – the love, care and commitment of everyone involved really shines through.

But we’re not stopping there. Along with Some Voices  rolling the song out onto doorsteps across the country to perform Sign of the Season, we’re encouraging our teams and guests to learn the carol themselves to bring a little extra cheer this year – a year where it’s needed more than ever.

The bigger picture

Signductor and top sign-singer Fletch is passionate about how important it is to include deaf and blind children in society:

“‘Sign of the Season’ is designed to encourage more inclusion of deaf and blind children in arts programmes, and ensures all Brits feel included in the magic of music this festive season. Music and the arts are incredibly important for a child’s development and performances like this give more the confidence to seek out opportunities to get involved […] and others the confidence to provide them.”

“It’s been a privilege working so closely with GOSH Charity, we’ve raised over £10m to open the new state-of-the-art Sight and Sound Centre supported by Premier Inn  and we’re so proud it’ll be able to help so many more children like those who were able to take part in Sign of the Season.”

We’ll also be supporting GOSH Charity’s ‘One Step Closer to Home’ Christmas appeal, with our hotels and team members across the country pitching in to raise much needed funds.

At Premier Inn we care about being a Force for Good. Events like Sign of the Season and our partnership with GOSH give us a chance to see our values in action, and whether we’re supporting our local communities, creating apprenticeships or only using renewable energy to power all 800+ of our hotels in the UK to protect the planet, people can rest easy that at Premier Inn we care about doing the right thing.
