Cardiff West hotel

We stayed the weekend whilst Metallica were playing at the Principality - the parking is large and free and the check in was easy with all staff we spoke to being very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, modern, comfortable and well equipped. We had a great nights sleep on both nights. The only thing I would warn (and this isn't the fault of the hotel at all) we didn't check the cost of a taxi into the centre but as it was less than 5 miles - how expensive could it be? It turns out it's around £25 each way (not surge pricing, just standard prices) On the Sunday we ended up waiting an hour for the bus to get into town as no taxi would come for us and then waited 2 hours for any Bolt/Uber/taxi to agree to bring us home at the end of the night at an inflated price! We thought it might be easy enough to walk but the walking route is very different to the driving route and not really do-able at midnight! Probably a unique experience as I'm sure if you're in town at a normal night without a large event on it'll be much easier. We did save a lot of money by staying out of town but the hassle getting to and from was a lot so I probably wouldn't stay whilst there was a big event on unless you're driving into the centre.

My wife and I used the Premier Inn West as a base to explore Cardiff and see the mighty Metallica 28th June 2026. The room was perfect, clean throughout and air conditioned, needed after the first night was in the upper 20s. The staff were always helpful, cheerful and happy to assist, which included booking tables for us in tje Beefeater next door (attached). Ww would certainly recommend and we will also return too. Many thanks for making our long weekend so great.

Terrible experience After repeated complaints to reception regarding the horrendous noise from the room above us including someone above was jumping off furniture and rattling our rooms light fittings we were finally moved to another room at 12:30am. Complained next day to “Guest Relations” (a joke) we were offered a 10% refund which frankly is insulting given that we had hardly any sleep after having to pack up and move then unpack in the middle of the night! Guest relations stated that yes there is a Guaranteed Good nights sleep policy BUT is subject to Terms and Conditions. Basically acceptable to them that we had to be moved at 12:30 and didn’t get to sleep for hours after we actually did not qualify for a refund but they made an exception. Aren’t we lucky

Excellent check-in experience, the manager was very friendly and helpful. Checked thee room as I arrived. Couldn’t ask for better service

Was greeted by Kim, lovely friendly lady on the front desk, lovely clean building and bedrooms was spot on, will return
