Cardiff North hotel

I was forced to use the automated check in which didn't work. Touch the screen, the keyboard appears, lift your finger off screen and the keyboard disappears. This game goes on until you finally manage to catch the keyboard. I assume it is some kind of game! I checked in the evening before on line as prompted by their email. Despite having a flexible booking (which costs more but allows you to amend the booking) by following their email I couldn't subsequently cancel the second day of my reservation so was ripped off for £100 for a room I didn't need.

We stayed here for 2 nights 16th and 17th August 2026. We traveled to Cardiff for a funeral, a sad occasion. The staff were very pleasant, the room was clean, couldn't fault it, breakfast was fine, plenty of choice. A lovely reception area and bar, bar staff were excellent, friendly and extremely helpful, my husband misplaced his bank card when we went for breakfast the same barman was on duty, I asked if he'd found it, he had, and put it to one side as he knew it was ours. A sad occasion made easier

Excellent stay, staff were professional and polite. Great location. 58 bus stop directly outside the hotel entrance takes you into the centre of town ( roughly 25 mins ). Had breakfast and evening meal, very good quality and VFM…thoroughly recommend.

Check in was ok. The member of staff did not come out until 3pm exactly. I know that's check in time, but when I've stayed at other premier inns, if you've arrived 10 mins earlier, they usually just check you in. There was a long queue (6 people) as we were all waiting for someone. Even checking in at the kiosk wasn't an option until 3pm on the dot. I'm presuming Premier Inn has become stricter. I know it may seem minor, but there doesn't seem to be any flexibility at all. I've stayed at other ones and never experienced this. The meal deal offer seems to have changed and we were told two different things. The first evening we were told two courses were included for the kids, I presumed a drink was included as well, but we got charged. My husbands order was messed up. He doesn't eat pork and ordered a steak, but he got a mixed grill instead. The waitress took the pork off the plate and asked if that was ok and put the pork separately. We informed her that he doesn't want the pork at all and she took it away. We had extra drinks to compensate and she said we won't get charged for the extra price of the mixed grill, but we did. It did get taken off, but this should have been sorted before we went to pay. We also got charged for a peppercorn sauce we didn't receive. The second evening we were told it's only the kids mains that were included in the meal deal, which are very small portion sizes and this was for the 'larger appetite'. Considering a child is up to the age of 15, there is no way this would be enough food for any child over 10. We had to order more as my 11 year old was still hungry. Our toilet seat was rocking in the bathroom also. There was a strong odour in the corridor on a first night.

Lovely hotel which we have visited previously and enjoyed. The Premier Plus room was clean and well laid out, every member of staff we interacted with was helpful and genuinely pleasant, excellent service. The location is great for exploring the area, free parking avoids the hidden extras "chargeable offsite parking" which can add a significant amount to the overall cost. Aircon kept the room at the perfect temperature and the bed was, as expected, super comfortable. The only slight negative was the breakfast. The cooked breakfast was at best luke warm and sometimes slightly less than that. Tuesday breakfast was a bit of a shambles with no smaller plates available for pastries etc, coffee machines ran out of milk (though this was sorted quickly), cutlery holders were either missing from the tables entirely or almost empty so several guest including ourselves had to grab some from elsewhere. Tables weren't cleared very quickly. The other 3 days were fine apart from the food temperature.
