Cardiff Bay hotel

The air conditioning didn't work, so the room was stuffy and smelt fusty. The member of staff at the front of the house was apathetic. There was no apology, let alone an offer to move to a different room. Breakfast was great, though. Really nice hash browns.

Cardiff Bay Premier Inn is directly alongside the Wales millennium Centre and a short walk from all the restaurants, shops and boat trips across the bay and up the river Taff. It also gives easy access to a walk across the Cardiff Bay Bariage to Penarth. The hotel is on seven floors with lift/elevator access to all rooms. Unless you request an accessible room, the rooms are standard premier inn rooms with a shower over the bath and a large bedroom. There is normally plenty of room for luggage although draws and hanging space are at a premium. This particular Premier inn had a USB on one side of the bed although we hadn't paid for one of their newer room types. the room was quiet and overall the atmosphere of the hotel was good. It was a Saturday night so could have been rowdy but we did not notice anything. The restaurant is on the ground floor and is in a large oblong shaped area. The bar area is alongside the restaurant and directly adjacent to the reception and hotel entrance. When the doors open and the wind is in the right direction it can get a little cold. Windows in this Premier inn do not open and are round like portholes as, I believe, the building may well have been a converted warehouse or was purpose built to fit into the local history of the area. The breakfast is a standard Premier inn Breakfast which we all know so well if you stay at one of their hotels. Cardiff Bay can be reached by train: however, currently there is only a shuttle service running from Cardiff Queen Street. If you come into Cardiff by train you will arrive at Cardiff Central and will need to change onto a frequent Valley line service to Cardiff Queen Street to pick up the shuttle. In time, once the new tramline is open, you will simply go outside of Cardiff Central Station and catch the tram directly to Cardiff Bay.

Room was typical PI room so all good, but….. No car park or discount voucher for public car park next door, the £15 to park more than 12 hours. No reception staff, average food. Not one of your best Premier Inn

We had a premier plus room which didn't compare with other premier inns which was disappointing our toilet only flushed every 20 minutes, the TV didn't work properly the shower was in a bath which all other premier plus rooms had a walk in shower, there was bleach marks on the carpet, the room was a bit of a let down..

Nice hotel enjoy plate staff injoyed
