Dundee Centre hotel

We booked a 7 night break at this hotel, as we stopped there several times before. Nice clean room, comfy bed. The first evening we had a meal in the restaurant that was very nice. We were told that things could change on Friday as Premier Inn were changing the way the restaurant would work. We went down for an evening meal on Sunday, but was told the restaurant was closed due to no chef. So we had to walk into town to get something to eat. Similar on Monday evening, no restaurant available, we heard that the chef had been sacked and the restaurant would be open on Tuesday night. Not much use to us as we were checking out. Time to try a different hotel in the future.

Premier Inn is losing its edge. Our room LOOKED clean, but didn't SMELL clean due to the sour, stagnant smell in the bathroom. Housekeeping need to learn that bacteria and organic residue build up when mopheads and cloths stay damp, never see any disinfectant or bleach and are never allow to dry out between jobs. The odour probably isn't obvious until the floor dries out by which time staff have left the room. Sadly, I've experienced this across a few Premier Inns now. I know housekeeping personnel are under time pressure to turn rooms around quickly, but this poor practice is letting you down, badly.

My partner and I recently booked a two-night stay at the Premier Inn Dundee Centre for over £300 and unfortunately, it was a complete disaster. We ended up being moved three times, and each room had its own major issues. First room was directly next to the main door so we could constantly hear it opening and slamming shut. It was unbearable, so we asked to move. Room two had a strong smell of bleach which was so overwhelming it literally made our eyes burn and water. Ironically, despite the harsh chemical smell, the room still wasn't clean. We asked to move again. The next room was our final room, and the cleanliness was shockingly poor. Reception advised they were fully booked so there wasn’t much they could do. We were desperate to leave and find another hotel, but everything locally was fully booked. We felt trapped in an unsanitary room. There was multiple pubes and hair in the shower that were definitely not ours. The floors were dirty, with the previous tenants litter and there was dirty smeared mirrors. There was wipeable brown stains left on the bathroom door frame directly in front of the toilet. There was pillows left out of their packaging without pillowcases, rendering them unusable and not actually sure they were clean. Going back and forth with reception was incredibly exhausting and uncomfortable for us. After giving them three chances to get it right, and being told by the receptionist that the hotel was at capacity anyway, we couldn't face going back to the desk a fourth time. To make matters worse, I reached out to the Premier Inn live chat for help. The agent gave me an email address to send my complaint to, only for me to receive an auto-reply stating the email was out of date! I was told to raise a complaint through the website which I did, that was on 12/08 and I have had no response. I’ve now reached out again on the 01/09 and still no response. I have used Premier Inn for years, but the brand has completely gone downhill recently. It is now expensive, run-down, and dirty. I would absolutely not recommend staying with them, especially not this branch.

We have stayed here before and really enjoyed it but we were really disappointed this visit. We checked in and were met with a really helpful guy but that was the last we saw any staff around the hotel. The rooms are looking tired and in need of attention. We found hairs in the bed and the shower curtain had a lot of black staining on it. We ate at the restaurant and we're really unimpressed with it both at breakfast and dinner. The staff were rude and unhelpful. We stood for at least 5 minutes waiting to be seated and we're totally ignored by waiting staff until we asked if we could take a seat. The breakfast itself was good but wasted with poor service. We also went for dinner and some options on the menu were not available as it's closing down. We ordered a medium/rare steak and it came barely cooked and was very bloody. We asked for Diane sauce and instead got peppercorn sauce. We sent it back and were only offered to put the steak back on the grill. No offer of another meal. We did get it taken off the bill but it wasted our enjoyment of a nice night The bar was also pretty poor in that a lot of the pumps were empty due to it closing down. I know it's Beefeater that's closing but Premier Inn were still charging full price for meal deals with only limited stock. It feels like the heart and soul has been ripped out the hotel and we won't be back, which is a shame as it's a great location and has always been really good on previous visits.
