Glasgow (Cumbernauld) hotel

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I feel I have to this time. We are a family of four and had arrived back from Turkey that evening. We booked a room for one night simply to rest our heads before continuing our journey the following day. We checked in quite late, around 8:30–9:00 pm, and were understandably very tired. The first thing I noticed was that, when I opened one of the drawers, clothing had been left behind by the previous occupants — including children’s socks and underwear. I was also very concerned to notice a dried period-blood stain on the mattress protector. As it was late and we were exhausted, my husband suggested that we just leave it and get some sleep rather than complain at that time. The following morning, I informed the receptionist, who was very apologetic and clearly sorry about what had happened. When we checked out, I deliberately pulled the drawer open and left a note so the housekeeping team could see that the items had been left behind and clean it properly. I also pointed out the stained mattress protector. I understand that mistakes can happen, but finding someone else’s clothing and underwear in the room, along with a visible blood stain on the mattress protector, really made us question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned and checked before we arrived. For a family staying for just one night, especially after travelling, you expect the room to be clean and ready for the next guests. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below that expectation.

We often stay in Premier Inns and I always say they are my “ go to” in the UK as you know what you are getting. Unfortunately after we had booked the Cumbernauld Premier Inn, they e-mailed to say their bar and restaurant would be temporarily closed as they were making some improvements. This meant that instead of a full breakfast they would only be offering a complimentary takeaway breakfast of fruit, croissant and a hot drink. On arrival we were told the complimentary breakfast could be collected from the ( small) reception area. They did have a selection of cereals but no bowls just paper cups. The Premier Inn itself was clean and Beth, who checked us in, was helpful. It is however, in need of a refresh. There was only one towel in our room so I had to return to reception to ask for another one which Beth quickly provided. Sadly the room was very hot for sleeping and although we did not have air conditioning, there was a very noisy ceiling fan which continued all night. We still like Premier Inns but the hot room, lack of full breakfast and noisy fan has lowered our rating. We feel the lack of restaurant should have been made clear on the website at the time of booking.

Rooms haven't got air-conditioning , restaurant is not available at the moment, coach starts up early and left idling. A fridge would be a good idea

Good stay with very friendly staff. Rooms are very dated but clean. No restaurant but plenty of places to eat locally. Good experience will definitely go back hopefully though when restaurant is opened

Really lovely, helpful staff. Lucy was extremely informative when I asked about restaurants nearby. There isnt much but as the hotel has no restaurant at the minute I took her recommendation of a turkish restaurant called Sal, it was lovely. I would stay again.
