"BEWARE OF THE PSYCHOPATH THAT WORKS ON RECEPTION!"
First off let me just say that I have stayed here a few times and almost all my visits were pleasant. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. The showers had good heat and pressure. The wifi worked decently on every floor.
However I stayed here a few months ago and had multiple unpleasant encounters with one particular staff member. Many of my friends book this premier inn every event because of its location. However after staying there this weekend I will not be coming again and I am advising all my friends not to either.
On friday when I arrived I had to wait for the person who did the booking as they had not paid. I asked to use the bag storage and got a ticket. I came back a few hours later to get something out of it.
I didn't get his name but he was about 6ft tall and had blonde/greying hair and had an accent (Swiss? German?) He was working reception and escorted me to the bag room. He kept repeating to take my bag and I had to tell him 3 times I was just getting one thing out of it and the bag was staying here. After I got what I wanted he took the bag to put it on the shelf. My laptop was in the front pocket and he was about to put it down on its front. I said "you need to flip it over" 3 times and he ignored me and dropped it on the front. I got annoyed and told him my laptop was there and it could get damaged if he did that. He responded "We are not liable if anything gets damaged" and when I informed him, he definitely is liable if I see him do it, he started to shout at me and threatened to kick me out of the hotel for "arguing with him".
He also had an argument with my roomie about bedding since there was only one bed in the room and the chaise was not made up in any way. (I had to make my own bed that night). The other girl at reception managed to deescilate the situation by interrupting their argument and just offering to bring up new bedding.
The next day he was escorting us to my friends room as they left their key inside and when my friend asked me what room I was in, he (standing behind us in the lift) blurted out the answer.
A - I dont think its appropriate for him to interrupt our conversation
B - That's a serious breach of privacy
C - How does he know exactly what room I'm in? He didn't check me in...
I was very disturbed by this behaviour.
I was busy and didn't actually use my laptop during my trip and later I discovered that my laptop WAS broken. The hinge was cracked and sometimes half the screen doesn't turn on. I contacted premier inn customer service but they were unwilling to do anything.

"Terrible night!!!!!"
P
Beware of Premier Inns promise of a ‘goods night rest guaranteed ‘. Our one and only night staying at the St Enoch Square in Glasgow was anything but!!!
We were awakened at 11:30pm when the fire alarm was activated. We dressed and descended the five flights to be told it was a false alarm and we could return to our rooms.
During the next hour the alarm was an activated six times, leaving us stressed and unable to sleep.
On contacting Customer Service we have been advised that fire alarm activation is not covered by their guarantee as it is health and safety rule to evacuate the hotel.
I understand the policy for one alarm disturbance. However, we were never actually evacuated but advised to return to our rooms and had to endure the alarm being falsely activated not once but six times, unacceptable.!
Why staff failed to deal with this on the first activation is anyone’s guess? Customer Relations state the system had to be reset numerous times, unlikely in my opinion.
I would also make wheelchair users aware that we encountered two users left sitting on the stairway landing whilst the alarms were being activated. Thank goodness for everyone this was a false alarm.

"St Enoch's not for us"
5 minutes from Central station, eateries and public transport. All staff are welcoming and friendly.
We've been to Glasgow before but stayed in a different part of town.
The downside - after booking I'd read that part of town could be a bit 'rough'
We were there during the week and thought oh, probably the weekend like a lot of cities these days.
We found out later that there's a dispersal order currently in force (some comfort)
Unfortunately not, there's a pub next door and a gang of youths had gathered. Some words exchanged and one lad ran past us, round the corner opposite and found a bottle. He smashed it then went back to the gathering.
I was terrified, I went inside the hotel to ask the staff to call the police. Apart from some young person getting seriously injured there were also residents coming back to the hotel.
The staff member didn't seem too phased as the police apparently drive around hourly.
I appreciate that if this sort of thing is a regular occurrence in parts of the City you can become a bit blasé but surely if you're in a dispersal zone there should be quick way to contact the patrols?
I'm not saying staff should at any point put themselves at risk but I personally didn't feel that my safety or that of other guests was of particular priority.
After that it did put us on full alert every time we left or came back to the hotel but didn't have any other incidents thank goodness.
Some staff training needed?
This may have been a one off or it may not.
It won't put us off visiting Glasgow again as it's a fantastic City, we'll just stay in a different part of town as we've done before.

"2 night stay"
Have just returned from a trip to Glasgow staying at this premier inn, very good location close to everything we were looking to do, clean rooms and a very good breakfast however their guest interactions need a lot of work, our first night there the fire alarm went off just before 12 midnight and the whole hotel had to be evacuated, I understand they have a procedure to follow but there was no staff members present to tell any of the guests where to go or what to do we were all simply left standing outside for over an hour, when we did finally get back in the building there was 2 members of staff neither of which apologized to 1 guest for the inconvenience as the alarm was a fault with their system, when checking out your simply told to leave the room key on the reception desk no interaction what so ever about how your stay is, the little things go a long way and the staff in this hotel are a long way off the mark for what you would expect.

"Good stay"
We are just back from staying at this hotel. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was lovely.
All in all we did enjoy our stay and would stay again but there was just a few things I think need improvement.
While we were there the fire alarm went off at 11.50pm and the hotel was evacuated now I know this needed to happen for obvious reasons but we were out for over and hour and at no point did staff show us were to go or give an update on what was happening. It was just a matter of following the crowd.
When checking out there was no thank you for staying with us or did you enjoy your stay we just gave our key card back and that was that. In my opinion these little things go a long way.
