"Expect less than the minimum. Better still, avoid."
Premier Inn is supposed to be one of the top budget brands. I would hate to see the others. Pros: Absolutey lovely, considerate staff. Well placed for the city centre. Real cups (glass) in the bedrooms, Clean bathroom. Cons: Dirty carpets. The one in the foyer as you walk in is filthy. Cushions on the seats collapsing. Although the bathroom is clean, slippers are needed to put your feet on the bedroom floor. The price hikes are egregious. Thursday = £55.00. Friday = £152.00. So not worth it...There was a music festival on, but this is way beyond the capitalism of "supply and demand". No phones in the rooms. My shower didn't work..so I would have had to get back dressed, go down to reception for help, then back again. In an emergency??? Phones are not compulsory, but still....Dust on the lamp bases. Dust on the kettle lid. No wee "bar". There is a steak "restaurant" attached, where there is a bar, but only with high stools. Whitbread are coining it in for minimum effort. Will certainly not be back - to any Premier Inn, which may be unfair to some of them.
      "Good location"
This hotel was in a very good location. It was a very short walk to the central train station and short walk to the cathedral and necropolis. It was reasonably priced and the room had everything I needed
"We slept quite well and were pleased to leave"
This hotel was everything that I expected. Really average. The room had a fusty smell. Other than the plug in the sink it wasn't dirty but it just seemed dull and grubby. Everything was done on the cheap except our bill, which was more than it was worth. I'm all for conservation but one bath towel between two adults is not on. It's proximity to the station is a double edged sword, really convenient for both transport and unsavoury goings-on in doorways. I have stayed in so many better and cheaper independent B&B's. The staff though were lovely and helpful, they seemed to be aware of their hospitality mission. We booked into our first Premier Inn in an act of desperation and if there were to be a next time it would again, only be in desperation.
      "Good Premier Inn"
We had a great stay, room clean and comfortable, ate breakfast and dinner both nights. Food very good, breakfast was tasty with good selection of hot and cold food, steaks in the evening perfectly cooked. Can’t fault it in any way. Perfect location and I will return.
      "Highly recommended"
Great location for station and shopping , friendly and helpful staff, comfortable rooms. Restaurant very good at breakfast and dinner
