Livingston (M8, Jct3) hotel

We stayed here for one night as a family of four (including a toddler), and unfortunately it wasn’t the experience we’d hoped for. Starting with the positives: the room itself was a great size for our family, the free travel cot was much appreciated, and every member of staff we dealt with was friendly and helpful. They really couldn’t be faulted. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. The room was very outdated. There were huge cracks in the ceiling that had been filled in, but the finish looked like it had been done by someone whose only previous decorating experience was arts and crafts at primary school. The biggest issue, though, was the temperature. The room sat between 26–27°C for our entire stay. We never shut the window once, despite it turning into what can only be described as a nightclub for every flying insect in Livingston by dinner time. For families with young children, this is a real concern. Safe sleep guidance recommends room temperatures of around 16–20°C for babies and toddlers, so trying to get an already overheated toddler to sleep was far from ideal. Thankfully there was a fan… or so we thought. The moment I switched it on, it produced such a spectacular cloud of dust that I briefly wondered whether I’d accidentally hired a snow machine. Not ideal for anyone, especially children or guests with allergies. The wall behind the radiator, where the travel cot had originally been positioned, also looked suspiciously mouldy, so we moved it elsewhere. The lighting throughout the room was so dim that it felt permanently gloomy. By the evening I genuinely felt like a Victorian orphan waiting for someone to tell me it was time to sweep another chimney. Keeping the window open also meant listening to constant traffic noise. Around 9pm, just after we’d spent over an hour trying to settle our overheating toddler, someone outside was enthusiastically emptying glass bottles into the recycling bins (I assume from the restaurant). If that wasn’t enough, around 10:30pm someone in the room above appeared to be vacuuming, complete with the unmistakable sound of the vacuum being dragged across the floor. The location is convenient, and the staff were excellent, but the condition of the room simply doesn’t justify the price. Had I paid half of what we did, I probably wouldn’t have minded so much. At the rates being charged, though, I’d expect a room that isn’t boiling hot, a fan that’s been cleaned this decade, and somewhere that feels a little less like stepping back in time. Sadly, despite the lovely staff, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Great hotel in a lovely area. It’s situated a short car journey to the Livingston Centre and designer outlets. There you will find an abundance of shops and eating places. In the vicinity of the hotel is a Starbucks, a McDonalds and a garage with a M&S food outlet. A short walk up the hill is Deer Park country club with a bowling alley and a golf course. Also so lovely walking trails. The hotel itself is spotless and the staff are so nice and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Very good stay here staff all very pleasant and helpfull . Had breakfast the next morning would recommend it to all . Good location easy to find all in all a good visit

DATED, threadbare room (#20) with uncomfortable small bed. Windowsill (open window) full of polen / dirt. No air conditioning. Moldy, rusty dirty bathroom with dangerous shower tub combination that seniors should avoid. Construction noise (room above ) started at 08;30. We couldn't have asked for a better couple of nights stay. Staff were super helpful, it was quiet at night and there is plenty of parking.
