Edinburgh (South Queensferry) hotel

We read the reviews and dreaded staying here. Especially having driven for 10 hours. We stayed 2 nights. Litter everywhere in the car park. The hallways and everything about the building is very tired. Scuffs on walls, stains on carpets. Our room was okay, wasn't great - but could have been worse. There was a strange smell in our room, which to me just smelt like body sweat from another person, but then we opened the window the whole time and the smell was still there by our second night, so maybe it was the walls? We only found one tiny hair on the mattress. The bed and pillows that were on the bed were clean at least. The bed and sheet was not made or tucked in properly and looked poor upon arrival, but it was clean and it smelt clean. I like to sleep with 2 pillows, so I opened up the bag of spare pillows. One was clean, the other had a big nasty brown stain on it which was hideous, I just didn't use that one. The head board had a big tear in the fabric. Big stain on carpet and on the chair in the corner. Bathroom was clean, just needs the sealant redoing to get rid of the mould in the corner. They did provide a clean very decent fan for the bedroom without us having to ask. We didn't have dinner there, we went out to a lovely place called Thirty Knots, only a 7 minute drive away from the premier inn, would recommend, was so, so lovely and fantastic food. Then there was breakfast at premier... awful. Terrible bacon - greasy, watery, more fat than actual meat and underdone, black pudding felt like you were picking up a dry round piece of polystyrene, watery foul tasting mushrooms that gave me a poorly tummy within 20 minutes of eating them, eggs and sausages were okay, the only edible thing. There was also hardly anything there! They didn't seem to ever replenish much, we weren't even late, 9-9:30AM is prime time for guests to have breakfast on weekend mornings, both times each dish had the tiniest bit at the bottom and looked as though it had been sat out for hours and not once replenished. There was barely anything left on our first morning. Second morning was marginally better in terms of replenishing, but it was still all the same awful food. We paid £371 for 2 nights and I honestly thought it was daylight robbery. Free parking convenient.

Needs some TLC - litter everywhere outside and in corridors. Needs a coat of exterior paint. Stiffed on price when I reached our visit.

The team were trying their best. Good location for visiting Edinburgh. Train excellent for getting to the city. Rooms excellent. Value for money reasonable. Breakfast and dinner not good. Old filthy restaurant in need of total refurbishment. Food not acceptable or value for money. Outside disgusting, rubbish broken benches everywhere. What ever has happened to Premier Inn/ Whitehead? The outside and inside condition of the reception areas and or restaurant means that we will certainly not be staying again. We are customer's who have been staying at Premier Inns for many years.

Good location for us before heading to airport Brewers fayre beside it handy for food and drinks ( they are becoming the 1 ) as due for renovations which would be great as hotel and the brewers fayre tired 10/10 for comfort of bed and pillows 8/10 cleanliness (hoover corners and edges)

Avoid avoid avoid! We’ve stayed in lots of premier inn’s over the years and this has to be the worst ever. Apart from a cheaper option to being in Edinburgh centre & the reception staff being good, the positive stops there. Everywhere dirty & rundown. Looks like the hoover hasn’t worked in months. Sweat wrappers under the best dust on the walls, tea/ coffee stains on walls, bins not emptied, terrible paintwork, the list goes on. Room was far too hot, couldn’t leave the window open overnight for the noise of the extraction units on the flat roof outside but at least there was a dusty fan to blow the hot air and dust around. As for the pub, most of the draught beers had ran out, staff were slow & unhelpful, there was no atmosphere & breakfast wasn’t even cafe standard. Sorry but for £350 for two nights it was really disappointing & I can’t believe Premier Inn have let it get in that state!
