    "Happily surprised at the experience."
I didn't have high expectations, but I was very impressed with the way the hotel worked and especially how human and normal the staff were. I love meeting real people. The room was perfectly adequate for my needs and the bed was very very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent of outstanding note the black pudding, apparently it's McSweens, the sausages, and the coffee. The hash browns were also very noteworthy. Yes I enjoyed it. I know its an English company but if you are going to provide such a good breakfast in Scotland put haggis on the menu please.
"For for purpose but nothing fancy"
The staff are really nice and the transport links into Edinburgh centre are fab, worth staying a wee bit out of the city to make the stay cheaper. The hotel itself is a bit tired and dated and really could be doing with an upgrade. We mostly had everything we needed for an overnight stay, except for cups and coffee/tea though we did have a kettle and spoons? The beds are really comfy and we slept great, quiet too. We didn’t use the restaurant so can’t comment on that. Overall it’s okay for a night to use as a base if you’re mostly out and about and I would stay here again for that purpose, but if I was staying longer I’d probably find a nicer hotel.
"Premier Inn - a good overall stay"
This is well located for your needs when in Edinburgh, we have stopped here overnight for the last 7 years at this time. No complaints.
    "Avoid if you possibly can."
My room was directly above a very noisy fan which ran all night. I spoke about it to the morning receptionist who told me that it was an air conditioning unit which should be turned off at night. She said that she would remind the staff to do this but could not change my room as the hotel was fully booked. On my return that evening I asked the evening receptionist about the fan. She said that it was cooling for the cellar and could not be turned off. She added that they were fully booked but had it mentioned raised the issue that morning they could have changed my room! I believe that this version was correct. In addition to the fan problem the housekeeping staff do not know how to make a bed and think that adjusting the duvet does the job. All in all the hotel can not be described as either ‘comfortable’ or ‘value for money’.
    "Above and beyond"
Staff were exceptionally nice and explained everything about my stay at check in. Also supplied a phone charger when mine failed politely and without fuss. Felt really welcomed. Would highly recommend this hotel and it's very nice staff 👍
