Edinburgh East hotel

As with every Premier Inn you know what to expect and it didn't disappoint.We were here to see The Prat Pack at Edinburgh Playhouse .Very easy check-in thanks to the staff, spotless room thanks to the House keeping staff who " generally speaking " i dont think get the credit they deserve. The Breakfast staff in the restaurant were also very pleasant and helpful, infact ALL staff we encountered were a credit to the Company. Now....the building itself, it really is in great need for a at least a coat of paint, at best a total refurbishment. Its a old building and looks it, but the staff more then make up for what the building lacks.

Perfect stay at edimburgh, full of buses took us there from Princess Street in 15/17 minutes, we never waited more than 3 minutes for a bus. The beds and bathrooms we súper clean and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding!!

Stayed overnight as we were at Tattoo. Hotel only 5 -10 min taxi ride away from centre. Room spotless and roomy. Corridors etc very clean too. What really made it for us was the staff! Every one was amazing! Night porter couldn’t have been nicer and he gave us bottles of chilled water and shortbread! Thank you, young man! So appreciated! Breakfast was superb - spot on! Eggs cooked exactly as we asked. Lots to choose from. It didn’t disappoint! The two ladies attending us were great and couldn’t do enough for us. I know things are pretty tough as Brewers Fayre no longer here but those women worked their hearts out in spite of their upcoming unemployment! We can’t thank you enough. Good luck with impending refurbishment! We’ll be back!

A last minute need need for a hotel. Incredibly expensive for a Premier Inn, certainly the time of year in which all hotels are profiteering. No doubt they will change their minds later in the year. Cost aside the attached pub was closed the evening of check in. As others have said the hotel is rather tired. Parking was difficult due to vans and lorries parked everywhere blocking parking bays. My room was immediately above an extractor fan which did not stop making noise all day and all night. Hardly a goods night sleep.

Overall The hotel was dated and dark, and the overall service and quality was not what you would expect from a Premier Inn. The Good 1. The positives were the the usual Premier Inn characteristiccs- good value and a comfortable bed with breakfast and food available. 2. The location is a bit far out from the centre but on bus routes. It was handy to Holyrood. 3. Breakfast was standard, and the range of food was good. The service was pretty good there, and efficient. The Bad. 1. The hotel was obviously converted and was very dated and dark. The respection area was pretty depressing, and check-in took a while. Getting a response from reception was not helped by a broken buzzer. 2. The rooms were also dark and not as good as manu other Premier Inns. 3. Some of the breakfast items were not great- especially the bacon. The bar was also very dated.
