"Centrally located stop over"
My brother, sister in law, sister, my husband and myself decided to go to Edinburgh as my brother had not been before. We booked the premiere inn and were absolutely delighted with our 2 day stay. Easy check in and room available for us to leave our bags until it was time to check in. Lovely clean rooms and everyone had an enjoyable nights sleep. The breakfast was lovely with a vast variety of food. Would definitely recommend and stay here again. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great time had by all. Hotel is very centrally located.
"Playhouse theatre stay"
Went for short stay to see David Gray on at the Playhouse Theatre in Aug 2025. The premier inn was just a stones throw away , ideal for a short stay. Really good hotel , clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast to boot .
"City centre hotel with all you need"
An unprepossessing building in the middle of the city. Adequate bedrooms and bathrooms. Lifts to all floors. Large ground floor for breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar. Full breakfast was worth the money and well organised. Bar open until midnight. Staff friendly and could not do enough. Facility to store luggage after checkout for collection later.
"Room needing updated"
Sorry to say but room not up to usual premier inn/ whitbread standard, broken biscuit at side of bed, paint peeling, broken lampshade, peeling vinyl on counter, tv remote clearly dirty - hotel location good, bed comfy, hotel quiet and we did sleep well-
"Warning - unclean hotel"
On arrival we were allocated room 2 and room 6 on the -1 level. The lobby on level -1 was disgusting! It clearly had not been vacuumed for days. A terrible first impression. Our room looked worn/tired. The bathroom was dated. I dislike a shower over a bath, especially when it is such a high-sided bath, but that is just a personal preference. There was black mould round the bath sealant. The shower curtain was stained with a pink hue and needed to be thrown out. The soap/shower gel dispenser was nearly empty but when trying to use it, we discovered it didn’t even work! There was very little toilet tissue. The extractor fan was covered in dust, as were the skirting boards. House keeping need to pay attention to these areas. Infact, I don’t think there had been any housekeeping, other than to make the bed! Awful! By far the most unclean Premier Inn room we have ever stayed in. The hair “dryer” was pathetic and needs replaced. There was more noise coming from it than warm air. On a positive, the bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet overnight. No traffic noise or noisy guests. The only staff we saw was one girl on reception when we checked in and the restaurant staff at breakfast. All of which were pleasant. The breakfast was good and thankfully to the usual Premier Inn standards. Great location but unless this hotel’s management resolve the uncleanliness of the lobbies and rooms, I would avoid a return visit. If you think I’m being overly critical, I will add that I paid over £300 PER ROOM, to stay one night so that we could have an overnight trip to enjoy the Edinburgh Tattoo. I get that hotel rooms are expensive in Edinburgh but at the very least the hotel should be clean!!! This Premier Inn in York Street, Edinburgh should be ashamed.
