"Warning - unclean hotel"
On arrival we were allocated room 2 and room 6 on the -1 level. The lobby on level -1 was disgusting! It clearly had not been vacuumed for days. A terrible first impression. Our room looked worn/tired. The bathroom was dated. I dislike a shower over a bath, especially when it is such a high-sided bath, but that is just a personal preference. There was black mould round the bath sealant. The shower curtain was stained with a pink hue and needed to be thrown out. The soap/shower gel dispenser was nearly empty but when trying to use it, we discovered it didn’t even work! There was very little toilet tissue. The extractor fan was covered in dust, as were the skirting boards. House keeping need to pay attention to these areas. Infact, I don’t think there had been any housekeeping, other than to make the bed! Awful! By far the most unclean Premier Inn room we have ever stayed in. The hair “dryer” was pathetic and needs replaced. There was more noise coming from it than warm air. On a positive, the bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet overnight. No traffic noise or noisy guests. The only staff we saw was one girl on reception when we checked in and the restaurant staff at breakfast. All of which were pleasant. The breakfast was good and thankfully to the usual Premier Inn standards. Great location but unless this hotel’s management resolve the uncleanliness of the lobbies and rooms, I would avoid a return visit. If you think I’m being overly critical, I will add that I paid over £300 PER ROOM, to stay one night so that we could have an overnight trip to enjoy the Edinburgh Tattoo. I get that hotel rooms are expensive in Edinburgh but at the very least the hotel should be clean!!! This Premier Inn in York Street, Edinburgh should be ashamed.
"Great central location"
The Premier Inn (York Place) is in a superb central location just a 2 minute walk from the Picardy Place tram stop. Our room was spacious and clean and all of the staff we met were friendly, efficient and welcoming. The breakfast was tasty and there’s a handy luggage storage facility that you can use for no extra charge before check-in and after check-out. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay at this hotel again.
"Lack of cleaning"
A nice room with a comfortable bed. The bathroom looked a bit tired, and I dislike a shower over a bath, especially when it is such a high-sided bath, but that is just a personal preference. The breakfast was good, and it was nice to have vegetarian options. The staff were pleasant. The only problem was a lack of cleanliness in the place. The rooms aren't cleaned, unless you particularly ask at reception for that to happen, and as there is rarely anyone at reception, that is a bit difficult. The lobby outside the rooms looked like it hadn't been introduced to a vaccum cleaner in a while.
"Super Stay!"
Visited with my son for a few days away. Fab stay. Staff made us welcome immediately, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Location is perfect. Ten mins walk to Royal Mile and far enough away from the craziness of the city in August. Highly recommend!!
"Tired and mouldy."
Booked premier inn as usual for city breaks as you know what you’re getting however this one was the worst I’d stayed at. £349 for ONE room for ONE night isn’t really acceptable for the condition of the bedroom. Not “premier” in the slightest. In desperate need of a good freshen up/revamp. Very tired looking and mouldy bathroom.
