Edinburgh City Centre Royal Mile hotel

I love the location and the BATHTUB was incredible. Perfect base to walk to almost any royal mile or beyond location. Nice People.

The room and bed were clean and comfortable as always. Excellent location. However the hotel simply doesn't have enough staff around - none when required at breakfast for large parts. Many of the staff didn't seem very happy or smiley. When enquiring about an evening meal we were told that the chef could only do pizza or cold desserts which to us was unacceptable!

Stayed for 2 nights with family on a tight budget bought meal deal thinking this would be good way to control budget - surprised on first night to be presented with a bill for child’s meal as they state kids do not eat free - second night I waited on the bill and was even more cross to firstly be presented with a bill for £37.99 for all of us and then an amended bill for just child - had paid £82 in addition to already paying breakfasts for meal deal but in fact if had not taken the “deal” would have only paid £76.00 extra Room location great, beds comply, rooms and restaurant both in need of tlc Peeling furniture, mould around bathroom, bench seats in restaurant peeling, restaurant displaying a closed sign during opening hours, Checkin desk queued and often unmanned as staff although pleasant seemed to have to work both reception and evening food service Rooms very warm, aircon wouldn’t stay on and windows don’t open so found it too warm to sleep Main issue really the food especially for children as portions small and felt had been mislead over meal deal

Great location short walk to the royal mile and waverly station. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms need updating flakey paint and damaged furniture. Veneer peeling off desk in room. Toilet role dispenser is the same as in a public toilet and not toilet role. Breakfast was good with a great choice.

Good location but other than that I have nothing positive to say about this hotel. The rooms were unkept, stained and the linens were poor. We woke up several times a night because we were so hot to turn the air conditioning back on as it turned itself off every couple hours. We requested a fan for our room and the staff member said that because it’s an economy hotel “management doesn’t give a s**t about things like that”. The breakfast was edible but simple, however the staff were quite rude when asked for assistance. I would not recommend this hotel and I will not return.
