Edinburgh City Centre Royal Mile hotel

Check in - no one on reception but someone appeared to help as we couldn't get the screen check in to work. Room was clean enough, with towels. Bed was clean. Air con just about worked. Controls not great at all. Room had a view overlooking the homeless across the street ! Had asked reception that our room be made up each day - it wasn't the first day so asked for it to be made up the second day and it was. Breakfast - first morning breakfast was cold ! Cold eggs, bacon etc. The person in the kitchen appeared more interested in looking at hos phone. Second day breakfast was hot and person in kitchen commented they were keeping food in warmer ! Why not do this every day ?! No reason that Premier Inn staff can't provide a warm breakfast. Location - good. Close to Royal Mile. Not sure I would walk from hotel to royal mile alone at night. Check out - staff member managed to raise his head from mobile phone to tell us to put key card on counter. Overall - not sure I'd stay here again. Staff seem preoccupied with looking at their phones + generally not overly welcoming + happy. Attention to detail re: cold breakfast + not having room made up a let down. At £200 + per night I would have expected better !

We paid a bit extra for a Premier Plus room with a view on the 4th floor, great location. The room size was adequate for our needs as we spent most of the trip sightseeing so we didn't spend much time in the hotel. The negative was cleanliness, carpets were stained and the skirting boards were filthy. Generally not Premier Inn's normal standard and definitely not Premier Plus

Great location. Just a 5-minute walk from the station and one block away from the Royal Mile. The two employees at reception when we checked in were indifferent. However, the staff in the afternoons (two ladies) were friendly and helpful. Rooms are adequate and a very good value.

The location is fantastic, just a short walk off Edinburg Waverly station. Even with 2 big luggage in tow, it was a comfortable walk to the hotel from the train station. Edinburg is basically a very walkable city and sights and attractions are well within walking distance. Royal Mile is just behind the hotel, where the Edinburg castle lies in one of the end. The rooms were decently sized. However the internet is SLOW. really SLOW. I can't even load google street view properly. You have to pay to get faster internet. Ridiculous to me! Shouldn't internet be part of a hotel's basic offerings? In the end, I had to rely on my mobile 5G for connection, so travellers, please be aware. The breakfast is the usual spread, bread, croissant, eggs, sausages, ham, mushroom every single day. the menu doesn't change. if you are in for a no frills breakfast, i think that's fine. If you want budget with basic comfort, I would recommend this hotel as it is the cheapest i can find in Edinburg area that is within reasonable walking distance from Edinburg Waverly station.

The location of this hotel of you are travelling by train is excellent. We were also able to leave our luggage in a secure room on checkout day ahead of our train in the afternoon which was, very helpful. The hotel is a little dated bit mainly clean and comfortable. My sisters room has black mould around her bath/shower however. We were disappointed by the breakfast however as in our first morning the cooked breakfast seemed only luke warm. The second morning the cooked food was stone cold. We returned to the breakfast bar and told a member of staff all the food was cold. He shrugged and said 'well the hotplate is broken'. He seemed to think that was sufficient. We asked if they had a microwave to heat it up a little for us which they did. But it's not ideal, supplying food they know is cold to customers and especially the meat elements of nothing ejse from a health and safety point of view.
