"Dusty room, dusty hallways"
My partner and I spent 533 pounds for three nights at this location. Ok James Taylor was in Edinburgh which jacked up the rate for one night.
But this hotel has a housekeeping problem. Upon arrival and check in to room 223, I found the room very dusty. I found a candy wrapper under the bedside table, then to my disgust I discovered dust on almost every surface. Even the bedside lamp arms, and shades were dusty.
The tv, every skirting board, the window sill, etc....and I'm talking dust that would have taken weeks if not a month to accumulate.
I spoke with Riccardo at the front desk and he confirmed our room would be given special attention for cleaning the next day.
We were in Edinburgh only three days, generally we don't require housekeeping for such a short visit and value our privacy, meaning I don't want anyone in my room.
The next morning after packing g our clothing away I suitcases I returned to the front desk to ensure a proper cleaning was planned and i even showed pictures of the accumulated dust.Of course the answer was yes
We returned about six hours later and found a very poor level of cleaning.
Yes the bedside table legs were dusted, the carpet at the head of the bed under the castor has been cleaned but wi dow sill, skirting board under the desk and even the bathroom skirting boards were still very dusty.
Not pleased.
Including the dust in my room, there was areas in the hallway with paint chips and other detritus along the corridor. No one hoovered the hallway for the entire stay.
Additionally, the desk lamp didn't even have a light bulb. I took the desk lamp to one of the house keepers and asked him to get a bulb and return it.
I never saw the lamp again.
So this may be a corporate issue, limiting the amount to of time housekeeping is allowed to clean a room or it maybe just this location.
But having a clean room upon arrival is what is expected.
Book here at your peril, or bring your own cleaning supplies.
One final note to corporate, install toilet brushes.....a basic item for any hotel

"Poor."
I wished I’d have read the reviews before booking.
Reception couldn’t have been less inviting, the guy who checked us in saw us as an inconvenience judging by his face and eye rolling.
The rooms were dingy, an awful musty odour as soon as you walked in. Carpets dingy, shower curtain was old and dingy, dust in room. Repairs to the ceiling were done crudely. Lots of marks on the walls.
Breakfast was mediocre and lukewarm, not enough staff and the food wasn't replenished quickly enough.
Bar staff didn’t have a clue. Wine was served in gin glasses and JD and coke was served in wine glasses, this isn’t the guys fault as he clearly hadn’t been taught what was what.
Reading the reviews from other guests it’s clear that the powers above are not interested as there are no replies to guests comments. It’s a shame really as I’d have gone back if my stay had been a more positive one.
One positive was the bed being very comfy and clean. If it hadn’t been I’d have left.

"Not my favorite…"
Our stay at Premier Inn Lauriston Place in Edinburgh started rough. The first night, the AC in our room was broken and there was a strong, unusual odor. The front desk was accommodating and moved us immediately, and the new room was comfortable with no further issues.
However, the rest of our experience was disappointing. The front desk was consistently unstaffed. A buzzer on the desk appeared non-functional — pressing it did nothing — so we were left waiting for staff to appear. When we did reach them, they were always polite and friendly.
We only ate at the hotel restaurant once, for breakfast. It was self-serve with a decent selection. Later that week, my husband tried to dine there around 7pm while my daughters and I were out shopping. He was refused service because the kitchen closed in an hour and staff said they wouldn’t serve him alone, but would happily serve us if the whole family was present. In all my years of hotel stays, I’ve never encountered that policy.
After returning home, my daughter realized she may have left an item in the room. I called immediately and was told someone would check and call back in 10 minutes. An hour passed with no call. Multiple follow-up calls went unanswered. I then contacted Premier Inn via WhatsApp and was promised a callback from Lauriston Place within 24–48 hours. Two days later, still nothing. I emailed the hotel directly and, as of writing this review, have received no response from either the hotel or Premier Inn.
This is by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend Premier Inn Lauriston Place in Edinburgh, or any Premier Inn, if this reflects their standard of guest service. I dislike leaving negative reviews, but this experience was so far outside the norm that I felt it needed to be shared.
