Aviemore hotel

Went to charge our car in Car Park of this hotel - we had our 103 year old father with us - cafe was closed for cleaning but manager made us a coffee “on the house” - what a nice bloke - top marks

We stayed at the Aviemore premier inn on Monday 19th October. On arrival we checked in and were allocated a room. When we went to our room it was a for a disabled person. The receptionist said there was no other rooms available and said someone had to have the disabled room. She reluctantly found us another room. We did not dine at the hotel because the receptionist also in charge of the dining area and her attitude was not pleasant. We have stayed at this premier inn several time and have never had any problems before. In future we will be having second thoughts about staying in this hotel again.

A cold room on a cold autumn night but we managed to get a portable heater on the second time of asking, seems like climate control didn’t work. Usually the premier inn experience is a good one but not this time.

Initial impressions of the hotel were good in that it looked modern and clean at check in. No one was on the desk when we arrived for check in. The room was clean, but the towel rail broken and would come down if more than 1 towel was on it. There was some mould around the taps on the bath. You are unable to book breakfast here and is it is a small restaurant, we had to wait on a table. There was only 1 young man working and clearing tables, filling up the continental selection, and seating guests. There were not enough staff on and stuff was not refilled for a while at times. No scrambled egg in the hot buffet selection either. We had a busy day in Inverness and decided to go back to the hotel to eat at night. The woman on duty seemed annoyed that we had not booked. Although we were accommodatet with a table, we were left waiting some time before our order was taking. There were some items missing from the evening menu, but once we did get our food, it was a good standard. Overall, I don't thnk we would choose this hotel again and we usually stay at Premier inns throughout the UK.

Our stay was extremely disappointing, with the location being the only real positive. There was a disgusting drainage smell coming from the bathroom throughout our 2 night stay, and reception was largely unattended, leaving nobody available to raise concerns with. Breakfast on Monday was equally poor. Despite several tables being available, we waited 10 minutes to be seated, and the hot buffet was inadequately stocked with missing items and very little replenishment. The young staff appeared overwhelmed, understaffed and poorly supported. Overall, the experience fell well below the standards we expect from the Premier Inn and represented very poor value for money.
