"Avoid - Go to local hotel instead."
The location of the Inn is a 15 minute walk into the centre of St Andrews. There is an Aldi and M&S store next to the Hotel.
It certainly wasn’t our finest stay at a Premier Inn. We arrived later than planned and hoped to have our dinner at the Inn only to find the restaurant closed over our two night stay. After getting a sandwich at the store next door we headed to bed. I noticed what I thought was a bit of carpet fluff beside the bed. The next day I realised it was an eye lash, there was a Kirby grip on the bathroom floor also, when I moved the pillow case bag under the bed, an eye liner pen dropped out. The bathroom floor wasn’t clean either and the shower gel dispenser was empty. Not wanting to complain we set off for the day. We had asked for our room to be done when checking in. On our evening return we found the room as we had left it. I went to reception and raised this with the supervisor on shift. I didn’t catch her name, she was very apologetic and immediately cleaned our room, which we were grateful to her for this. This shouldn’t be the case, she was clearly already under pressure cleaning the dining area with her colleague. At breakfast nothing seemed to be restocked either, we didn’t want to complain then either. The premium WiFi I had purchased was also slow. There is a lack of sockets and no USB charging points in the the room, a given in a modern hotel. Our sleep was disturbed by the constant sound of the water boiler bubbling. Room 3 is an adjoining room with a locked door, the sound of the neighbouring room could also be easily heard. I need to say we had concerns if our room had been cleaned at all before our late check in, it makes you wonder if the bedding had been changed or just the bed made up? Ironically I had cancelled a smaller hotel in a nearby village, thinking we would have a comfortable stay in a higher cost branded hotel. Well, as they say, all that glitters is not gold. We won’t be rushing back, I’m unsure if the hotel is short staffed or poorly managed.
Having complaint to Guest Relations, they refunded £5, and ignored all other correspondence.

"Needs aired!"
First the positives - well situated hotel, clean room, good bed and bathroom. But my room smelled. I think this may be because the windows don't open and ventilation - even for the bathroom - seems to happen only through the aircon, which cuts out when you leave the room (I should add that my daughter had another smelly room there recently on a hotter day, when her room aircon wasn't working at all). After I ran the aircon and fan full on for a while, the smell improved a bit, underlining that the room needed aired! This is a pity - we've stayed in this hotel, year-round, since it first opened and have never noticed an issue before, so what has changed and surely it can be fixed/improved? I've stayed in many Premier Inns and have given many 5-star reviews (including to this hotel), but sadly this stay didn't merit that.

"Really helpful staff Comfortable room and well positioned hotel."
Initially we had a difficulty with our room however the staff resolved the problem immediately and we had a really good stay in a comfortable room that suited us perfectly. The hotel is really well positioned for exploring St Andrews and near to the seafront. Thank you to Gary and Lewis for your help.

"Tired and Dirty"
I write this review in the hope that someone senior at Premier Inn reads and acts upon. I give the hotel 1 , the lowest I have ever reviewed and if I could have given it a zero I may have considered. We were in room 3 , ground floor and in my opinion this is a really poor and dirty room. I have never had an issue at Glenrothes Inn and thought due to a wedding location in St Andrews this was a safe and reliable choice. It was in my opinion expensive , but was happy to pay this until we turned up. It is very tired , unmaintained and DIRTY. The dust and whatever below the bed , in the bathroom and in the corners was dreadful. We did not enjoy the environment at all, let alone the room key holder that you use for lights and power, which was loose and dangerous. I know people may think this is a customer with a grudge, but my whole premier inn reliable experience has gone out the window. I used to have a high regard for premier inn experience.
If I had known what it was like I would have paid extra and gone else where. So sorry to premier inn but please improve this hotel as it is in a lovely town in Fife that has so much to offer the traveller.
