Stirling City Centre hotel

brilliant place to stop the staff was so helpful pointing out places we might like to visit and again very helpful as I am disabled they bought a coffee outside to me in the morning

I stay at this hotel as part of a group booking. The first room I was given had not been cleaned. There was long dark hairs in the bed, yellow stains on the pillow cases and layers of dust on the headboard, TV & breakfast tray. I did goto reception who changed me to a room on the 2nd floor. This took about 15 minutes for 2 members of staff to try and organise. Not very efficient. If your epileptic BEWARE. The bright LED lights in the lifts were flashing so fast it was hurting my eyes travelling only 2 floors. I am unsure which type of air freshener is in the automatic machine on the second floor but it is an overpowering smell of furniture polish mixed with chemicals. I have stayed here many times and it's always the same. My 2nd room was a 'Premier Plus Room'. No different from the standard rooms other than it has a dusty Nespresso machine and small bar of chocolate. You cannot open the windows at all which leaves you with the air-conditioning unit blowing out cold dust. This hotel is dated and drastically needs a refurb. At the time of writing this, they are re modelling the restaurant which is about time. It was a dark, soulless environment with minimal staff and maximum wait for food.

Excellent stay in prem plus room clean tidy

Upon arrival, our Plus Room was not available. We were put into an accessible room, which was very poor. Low, uncomfortable bed, wet bathroom and that awful loo paper that is dispensed one sheet at a time! We had a really bad night's sleep. In the morning, we went to reception to see what could be done and the heroine of our stay, Heather, sorted out a Plus room for our second night. This room was much better. She gave us a complimentary bottle of bubbly and refunded our first night's stay. So for our first night, the rating was 1* and for the second it was 4-5*. There was no access to the restaurant for breakfast or dinner etc. because of the renovations. It was a nice gesture to provide coffee and snacks in the hotel reception. This would probably be a good idea going forwards anyway.

It’s a good Premier Inn, staff are excellent, room spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and decent shower. Location is two min walk from town centre and train station. Ongoing refurbishment of pub next door means no cooked breakfast facilities but there are plenty of great options nearby
