"Worst Premier inn we’ve stayed at!"
Booked in for 2 nights and it was our first time staying at this premier inn. On arrival at the front entrance the rubbish bin was overflowing with rubbish and Amazon boxes and there was cigarette butts all over the ground. When we went in the lady that checked us in was very unfriendly, no info given about hotel just given room cards and directions to room. The whole of the ground floor and also our room smelt very damp and musty. Room appeared to be clean, the curtains were partially closed but we think it’s cos the curtain rail was broken! Lots of mould round window. The bathroom was clean apart from the dirt around the hand wash bottle and it had a horrible damp smell too. We went over to the restaurant at 8.50pm to see if we could get some food as we had arrived late at hotel only to be told they were no longer serving! There was only 2 other tables in the restaurant at that time. In the morning we made the mistake of going back to restaurant for breakfast and we really wish we hadn’t. It was the worst premier inn breakfast we have ever had, service was awful and the place needed a good clean especially round the tea/coffee machine area. We looked to see where the cooked breakfast was, as the menu stated unlimited hot breakfast only to be told we had to order what we want and by 10am they had already run out of a few items. The only good points was the free parking and comfy bed!!
"Not our usual Premier Inn experience"
Good location and comfortable room but the restaurant service at breakfast is appalling, incorrect orders , long wait times and no organisation, Nicola who was serving- who was keen to stress it was her first day didn’t have a clue what was going on but why was she not being trained to do her job properly- there was no management whatsoever and all the staff were rude and arrogant, a gentleman sat on the table next to us got told there was no scrambled egg left only for us to be served it five minutes later, there was nothing correct on our order , the whole experience was a shambles and not what we have come to expect from Premier Inn, if this was our first experience we would certainly think twice about using the chain again, very disappointing.
"Lots of work needed - going downhill"
Second stay here... 1. First room - pretty poor cleanliness - grubby headboard. Panel fell off bathroom suite and hit me in shin - very hard to replace, so I think had been propped up with bin. When bin moved, panel fell off. Ouch. So moved room. 2. Second room - previous guest dirty towel on back of bathroom door 3. Front area very grubby - lots of discarded cigarette butts 4. Bar area (outside) - broken glass (entire bottle) from previous night, very untidy. Would have been a nice place to sit in the sun, but dirty. 5. Breakfast - poor selection even at 0930, paper napkins under almost all table legs to stop wobble. Permanent leak from coffee machine so yellow sign blocking access. Tables all generally sticky and grubby. Smells like "last night bar" - stale alcohol, probs from poor cleaning. Smelly dischloth smell from surfaces. Overall a great location but neads 110% effort, leadership, management and some pride to be invested. We won't be back there - it's the worst PI in the UK, in my experience.
"A great place to stay in Stirling"
Convenient location both to the railway station and the city centre. Room was comfortable, the beds were especially good. Probably the best hotel beds I've slept in. Great breakfast. And very friendly staff!
"Give it a wide berth."
We bought the meal-deal for the first night. The food was ok-ish, but the service was the worst we have ever experienced. The restaurant was not particularly busy, but it took ages for the food to arrive. We couldn’t even have a beer while we waited because the bar had run out of all beers. We ordered coffees at the same time as the table next to us ordered full meals. They had eaten their meals and we were still asking for our coffee. In the end we had to ask four times before it finally arrived. Each time we asked, the waitress became more and more surly and seemed to think we were being unreasonable. All in all it took over three hours for us to complete a simple meal of scampi and chips, and similar frozen food. At breakfast we were told that the restaurant had run out of butter for toast. This was clearly a lie, as we noticed that a large box of butter had been brought to the servery just as we left the restaurant. It was simply that the waiter could not be bothered to go and look for it. The cooked breakfast was awful and the baked goods were stale and unappetising. The toasters were useless and a slice of bread was toasted four times before it achieved any colour (at which point it was hard, and burnt). All food provided at both meals was cheap, nasty and poor quality. We ate at restaurants in town for the rest of our stay. The toilet did not flush well and eventually ceased to work altogether. This was reported to reception at 9:30 am and the receptionist said she would get it repaired. When we returned to the hotel at 5:30pm nothing had been done. The receptionist said she did not know about it and was reluctant to do anything other than offer an alternative room. This was unacceptable as we needed an accessible room with wet room. Eventually another, presumably more senior, receptionist arranged for us to have access to an alternative room for toilet facilities and said she would contact a plumber. This she did and he managed effect a temporary repair. I doubt that anything more permanent has been organised for future guests. We were offered a complimentary breakfast as compensation, but since we knew that the food in the restaurant was awful we declined. All in all, it was a dreadful trip and we will not be using Premier Inn again.
