"Great Location"
We had a very pleasant two night stay last week. Very friendly check in. Since you now pay £5 per 24 hours for car park we were pleased they honoured the £3 per 24 hours when we booked. The room was perfectly adequate with everything provided but an extra hand towel would have been nice given two night stay. Very comfortable bed, great air conditioning and free WiFi. We did not eat at hotel so cannot comment. Great location next to ferry terminal and station. Easy checkout. Will stay again
"Luckily my company pay the bill"
Location fine. Parking-charged at £7.50 which is a rip off. Hotel is very expensive for what is basically nothing special. Evening meal was ok again nothing special. It’s so unfortunate that the hotels in Scotland are pricing themselves the way they are. I’m actually travelling to Amsterdam via ferry for a weekend and it’s same price as one night in Oban ! I know where I’d rather go !!
"Premier Inn is the best"
You are in Oban and need a room for the night (or even longer), book it at the Premier Inn. They have the nicest, most helpful staff (thanks a million Tina, Brigitta & team!!!), clean and cosy rooms in vicinity of the town centre and good food on top. Really, YOU WILL BE PLEASED!!!
"Cookie cutter"
- This is one of the reasons I hate capitalism. Staying at a hotel used to be an adventure: nicely appointed, clean rooms that I took the worry about being away from home. Everything you need is right there, or a phone call away to someone at the front desk. Plush carpeting. Even plusher towels. A box of tissues by the bedside, full tea and coffee service, and a television that works. All of this is gone in order to glean more profits for the shareholders/owners. Everything has been corporatised in order to squeeze as much money out of customers as possible. All rooms are the same, with the same furnishings, same layout, same old tired tellies, no phones and no one at the front desk-- ever! My room in Oban is exactly as the rooms in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London. Nothing to let you know anything about the place in which you are staying. Plus: no loo rolls, just a glorified tissue dispenser with single serve sheets. Heaven forbid one should have an intestinal problem! The bed and pillows are good enough, but the tub/shower is dangerous without a bath mat which, if you want one, you have to leave your room, try to find a member of staff and pray there is a mat somewhere (there often isn't). No soap or shampoo, just those horrible, anchored to the wall, dispensers that oftentimes do not even work. Televisions never work without some kind of finger dexterity and the patience of Job. Tea service is an afterthought. Long and the short of it is this: Hotels, in order to maximise profits, have raised prices, fired staff, and cut so many corners out of greed that the only adventure in staying at a hotel is whether or not one can get out of it in one piece!
"Great location for the ferry terminal"
We stayed one night after returning from Mull and heading out to Coll. The hotel is in a great location for the Oban Ferry Terminal. It is good that you can book room only as we left too early for breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable but far too warm, and the window wouldn’t open. You do pay for parking but we were at the previous rate due to when we booked, so it was just £3 for the night, don’t think it’s that now though.
