Cologne City Sud hotel

Check in easy, 15 minute walk to the main train station. And a tiny bit out of town. Room on the 14th floor but close to busy roads thus noise. Breakfast was a good choice. Bar ok, I didn’t see the point of the menu they put out as they only did pizza or soup everything else on the menu was unavailable the entire time we were there. Scan and pay for ‘corner’ overpriced water/bottled beer/ crisps/ toothpaste etc. the prices were extortionate!! The early morning reception cleaner was rude and abrupt and kept giving angry stares as I asked for an apple and a coffee at 6a.m our breakfast was paid for that day but we had to leave before it started for our flight. She kept shouting it’s not free!! Then proceeded to mop and hoover right at our feet with anger when she had the entire space to concentrate on - being told to lift my feet and then have them hit with a mop is possibly a German thing. But something I find acceptable. All other staff lovely.

Quick check in, rooms were small but everything we needed for a 4 day stay.

Awful hotel. Just got around to writing my reviews during our Christmas break. Why not to book this hotel: 1. Car park full, just let people book in advance, the first come first served basis is ridiculous. I guarantee people would chose a different hotel as you do not make this clear. 2. Queued for 20mins to check in, 30 odd people. I saw this happen each day we were here. You couldn't get past reception is was so busy. 3. No food in restaurant, only choice of 3 pizzas. My daughter doesn't eat cheese. Had to go to supermarket and bring in own food. 4. 'Family' room is a joke. Barely a double. 5. The managers were useless. However the bar staff and general staff were very friendly, that is literally the only positive thing to say. 6. Bed was awful and very uncomfortable, my daughters bed settee had springs sticking out. Pay a little extra and go to a different hotel in town, even if they don't have a car park (which is the only reason we booked here) as there is lots of carparks in town for the same price and you'll be closer. This was without doubt the worst hotel we stayed in during our 2 week trip around Germany. So overpriced!!

Worst hotel ever. Rooms same size as a stamp. Beds the same. Mold in every corner of the bathroom. Dirty carpets all over. Only cleaning on request, and even when you do request, no house keeping shows up. No hot water in the morning. Expensive and really poor restaurant with hopeless opening hours. Stay away!!

Great value, cool room especially as it's been 35 degrees centigrade during my stay. Bed comfortable and great view from my 16th floor. The stained chair and carpet plus expensive breakfast stop me giving it 5/5. 20 minutes walk to the centre but 2 minutes from the tram system.
