It started with a bang... or rather, a lack thereof. We arrived to find the hotel plunged into darkness – apparently, they were playing a real-life game of "Where's the Electricity?" and the hotel was losing. Check-in was impossible, luggage was a no-go, so we did what any self-respecting traveler would do: dumped our bags at the station and went on a "mooch." (Which, I discovered, is apparently British for "wandered aimlessly.") Eventually, we returned, the lights were back on (hallelujah!), but the lift was on strike. Up the stairs we trudged, visions of our spotless, "very nice" room dancing in our heads. And, to their credit, the room was lovely. Quiet, too. I slept like a log, probably because I was exhausted from the earlier "mooching" and stair-climbing. Breakfast, however, was a whole other kettle of fish. It was less a breakfast buffet and more a "survival of the fittest" scenario. The pickings were slim, and the beans had clearly formed a gang, huddled together in a corner like they were planning a great escape. I counted 27 of them, little desperados. The scrambled eggs tasted suspiciously of plastic – I'm pretty sure they came from a plastic chicken. There was, however, a mountain of bacon. Unfortunately, there was a distinct shortage of things to put said bacon on. A lone, lonely piece of toast peeked out from under the warmer, like a forgotten extra in a school play. The staff, bless their hearts, seemed as bewildered as the rest of us. They were clearly winging it, which, considering the circumstances, is understandable. On the plus side, the location is fantastic, just a 10-minute stroll from the station. The rooms are indeed nice and quiet, and the price was right. So, if you're looking for a hotel with a bit of "character" (and you're not too fussed about breakfast), this place might be for you. Just maybe pack your own toast and keep an eye on those rebellious beans.

Fresh new hotel, however only one lift in the building, and that was out of order for our stay and we were on the top floor. Thank goodness I didn't have my disabled daughter with me on this trip, as we were not informed before we arrived. Our room was smaller than most premier inns, and smaller than the other cologne city sud hotel we have stayed at before. But the facilities were brand new, was fine for a stop gap and somewhere to sleep that was clean and comfortable, but if you're claustrophobic, this might not be for you. There was also a gap around the door when closed and locked which showed the light in the hallway into the room. Location was good, couldn't hear the busy road outside. Staff were few and far between but they were super helpful in letting us leave suitcases before and after check out with a luggage check tag.

Hotel is clean, staff friendly and hotel is close to the cathedral so short walk to the markets and city Stayed Monday to Friday and the room wasn't cleaned or towels changed until we asked and if we hadn't asked wouldn't have been done until we left

Freundliches Hotel. Immer sehr freundlich empfangen werden an der Rezeption von Georg. Saubere Zimmer, Aufzug vorhanden. Lage Hotel gut gelegen. Alles gut erreichbar. Freundlichkeit wird hier groß geschrieben. Bin Stammgast im Haus. Danke für alles.

Ich habe mich bewusst für dieses Hotel entschieden, da ich es bereits aus der Vergangenheit kenne, als es noch ein Privat geführtes Hotel war und ich hab eine Geschäftsreise in Köln. Die bisher guten Erfahrungen als primär and Business Gast und allesamt zu einer blanken Enttäuschung! Das Hotel wurde notdürftig saniert, möglichst schnell und billig und möglichst Viel Raum und Zimmer zur Verfügung zu stellen Das Personal ist hoffnungslos überfordert mit einer winzigen Rezeption Das ursprüngliche Web angezeigte Zimmer entpuppte sich dann auch nach mehreren anderen. Versuchen als winzig kleine, vielleicht 12 m² großes Zimmer. Kann also noch mit Dachschräge, was das Ganze noch etwas verkleinert und keinster Weise auch nur ansatzweise zu vergleichen mit dem, was im Internet dargestellt wird Lange Wartezeit an der Rezeption, völlige Überforderung, des Personals, defekte Aufzug. Vier Etagen mit der Treppe. Übrigens, der Aufzug soll bereits vier Wochen Außer Betrieb sein Diese angeblichen Prämie im Plus Zimmer befinden sich in einem Nebengebäude, wo man über ein Hinterhof zu einem noch älteren noch schlimmeren Hotel kommt. Das plus Zimmer, was ich mir angesehen hatte, hatte ein unverbaut Bahre Blick auf einen Hinterhof mit Rohren zur Lüftung Alles in allem würde ich einen riesengroßen Bogen um diese Hotel machen und nicht noch einmal. Das Beste kommt allerdings noch ich habe das Hotel und die Verwaltung selber kontaktiert und um eine Stellungnahme gebeten und mich auf die Übernachtung Garantie berufen. Keinerlei Antwort erhalten völlig Ignoranz auch nach einem Monat!!
