Hannover City University hotel

Very disappointing experience. I booked a room for one person and asked for a queen-size bed, but I was told the hotel was fully booked. However, I could still see many queen-bed rooms available on Booking.com. More importantly, my reservation clearly stated that the room had air conditioning, but after checking in I was told that the hotel has no air conditioning at all. The room was extremely hot, like a sauna. When I complained, the receptionist sarcastically told me, “It’s good that you have a sauna in your room.” Misleading information and extremely poor customer service. Definitely not what I expected.

We stayed for one night at the Premier Inn Hannover City Centre in December 2025 and unfortunately the experience did not fully reflect the standard we usually associate with Premier Inn hotels. On a positive note, the hotel is in a convenient central location, the reception staff were polite throughout our stay, and the replacement room itself was visually modern and nicely designed. The beds themselves were comfortable, although we personally found the pillows extremely uncomfortable and ultimately had to use folded towels instead for support during the night. After check-in, we were initially assigned a room with noticeable dust, a large floor stain and significant noise issues. Reception did arrange a replacement room quickly, which we appreciated after a long travel day. The replacement room generally appeared better maintained, however there were still several issues including a loose tile, a large carpet stain and damaged furniture surfaces. The room was also noticeably smaller than the original room we had been allocated. In addition, there was a persistent musty smell which we reported during our stay. A staff member kindly came to unlock/open the small window for ventilation, but unfortunately the smell remained throughout the night and no further solution or alternative room was offered afterwards. Although the room was located on one of the upper floors, noise levels during the night were unfortunately very high. This included outside noise such as emergency vehicle sirens and nearby train braking/squealing, as well as noise from a neighbouring room, including prolonged screaming from a child late into the evening. We fully understand that children can become upset and do not blame the family involved. Reception did speak with the neighbouring guests after we contacted them, and the situation improved afterwards. However, by that stage our sleep had already been interrupted several times and, considering the combination of issues throughout the stay, we would perhaps have expected another room option, a gesture of goodwill or some form of compensation to be considered. As we were only staying for one night and it was already late, requesting yet another solution did not feel particularly realistic at the time, so we ultimately accepted the situation despite the reduced comfort. Breakfast was generally good overall, although we were surprised that sparkling mineral water was not included and could only be purchased separately from the bar or vending machines. A slightly wider cooked breakfast selection, for example fried eggs, would also improve the experience. We also noticed that the rear parking entrance door appeared faulty or poorly adjusted, as it was extremely heavy and difficult to open. We are regular Premier Inn guests and have stayed at many locations internationally, particularly in the UK, which made this stay especially disappointing compared to the standard we normally associate with the brand. In addition to raising concerns during the stay itself, we also later tried contacting both the hotel directly and Premier Inn customer service via email to provide feedback regarding the experience, but unfortunately did not receive a reply. Overall, the onsite staff were polite and did try to assist where possible, but the stay did not reflect the usual comfort, maintenance and quietness we normally expect from Premier Inn.

First time i was disappointed by the customers service of this hotel but after visiting and staying there for few days, i have to say it't really nice experience and everyone was very nice, overall a much more better experience than i expected. I would go again

One of the joys of going away, is the Hotel stay. Expectations are NOT high, but a little largesse and being spoilt was all part of the package. Clean towels and room cleaning was the standard - NOT AT THIS HOTEL. One has to advise reception the previous day, that you want your room cleaned & replenished - your room is then put on the next days rota if you are lucky. If someone does not fill out the form correctly, your room is NOT cleaned AND IT BECOMES your responsibility to go to reception again, and request cleaning for next day. Even if you speak directly to the cleaning team ( outside your room door ) they will NOT do anything - not their problem. My wife & I thought this was a disgraceful state of affairs, and most un satisfactory. The bean counters in management have certainly got this wrong, and will make me think twice about staying ib a Premier Inn again. Bugsy Horsham. West Sussex.

The hotel is ok for the town. It's about a 20 minute walk, but the taxis are about 10-15 euro. The room was as expected, really comfortable beds, and on the whole, not an issue at all. The trains went almost under our room, but once the window was shut, it really wasn't an issue. The staff here couldn't have been any more unfriendly if they tried, however. From check-in to most interactions, they just weren't interested in the slightest. There was 1 young lady who was really nice, 2 young lads that were just ok and then the rest were just awful. Made us feel truly unwelcome and uncomfortable. Was more annoyed when they were chatty and friendly with other national guests but really off with us. Totally put us off returning as we had hoped for the octoberfest. Wouldn't recommend for British guests.
