Hamburg City Hammerbrook hotel

After staying at the Premier Inn in Hamburg, I can confidently say this was the worst hotel chain experience I’ve ever had. The so-called “family room” was ridiculously small, with beds so narrow that my children couldn’t sleep properly. Housekeeping? Only if you explicitly request it — something they never mention in advance. We were also misled several times: things we were initially told were “not possible” suddenly became possible later. This is unacceptable for any hotel, especially one that presents itself as an international chain. To make matters worse, some of the staff could barely communicate in English, which made solving even simple issues unnecessarily frustrating. In short: negligent service, misleading communication, uncomfortable rooms. An absolute disgrace. I sincerely hope I never have to repeat this experience.

checked in ok, got to our room to find it was made as a double bed and we had asked for twin or 2 singles. eventually had that sorted out. Disappointed to find there is a few issues. 1 No Safe 2. No Fridge 3.Very little storage 4.No phone to ring reception if needed so have to keep going down from the 3rd floor to speak to them. 5 Breakfast 18.00 euros we found very expensive had to ask twice each day for towels to be changed. Good points are staff friendly, and the hotel is near the train station to head into the city. Overall wouldnt stay here again.

A brilliant hotel. A fantastic location with a 15 minute walk to the central station. There is a bus that goes from almost outside the hotel to the harbour, which is convenient to take a municipal ferry to sightsee, or take an organised boat trip. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was really good value and great quality. The staff throughout were great and friendly and helpful. I would like to say a big shout out to Melissa who was on reception. She was always smiling and she gave us so much great information. Thank you. Would i stay there again. Yes I most certainly would.

Don’t let the location put you off, it’s very handy for central Hamburg. The rooms are cosy and modern, the bar area is very small but the lounge/breakfast room is very spacious and didn’t feel overcrowded even when it was busy. The staff were all really pleasant, very friendly and helpful.

In February, I stayed 2 nights at this hotel with my family before the cruise. We booked a family room and were a little surprised by its size (quite small). The first evening we arrived at the hotel where we were greeted by a receptionist who spoke almost no English. We gave her a prepaid voucher and waited. It took a long time for us to be accommodated, the receptionist didn't talk to us. After a while she said that we have to pay the city tax. We said OK and after the calculations of the receptionist we paid 1,5 euro. We specifically asked if it was the total amount or per night and the receptionist told us that it was the total amount. The next day we went out to visit the city, but when we returned to the hotel she informed us that there was a problem with the local city tax and that we had to pay a difference of 1,72 euro. Unfortunately, we again encountered the problem of the English language. The extremely unpleasant surprise was when we received another access card, a sign that our access to the room had been cut off because of this difference. I believe that it was not our fault that the receptionist miscalculated and did not know how to express itself in English. I have traveled quite a lot, but I have not yet found a hotel where the employee at the reception does not speak English at all and the tourist is "punished" because of a mistake made by the staff. Otherwise, the hotel was OK: good location, clean room, varied breakfast.
