"Overall an ok hotel, but some things could be improved"
What saved my evaluation from total slaughter of this hotel was largely the very pleasant service, front desk or reception staff, employees in the dining area and last but not least the very pleasant cleaning staff as well. The hotel also had a very good breakfast. Swindon was a pleasant town, but seemed to have its share of problems with the unemployed and poor due to jobs disappearing and being largely replaced by computers and machines. Although there were a number of beggars and drunks roaming around the town at all hours of the day, they also seemed pleasant and decent and I never felt unsafe even though I went for an evening walk a couple of nights. Swindon also had several pleasant pubs even though some of them had cut out food service completely or partially. These chain pubs had a very boring menu with a far too small and messy layout and a lot of unhealthy food and could serve green salad more often or as a matter of course with dishes on the menu unless you want to drop green salad with the dish. Short distance to the railway station and also a very pleasant and great railway museum right behind the railway station. There is a lot of dust in the hotel room, probably due to too weak or too bad dust filters in the air conditioner that may not be changed often enough. It should perhaps be possible to set a degree lower than 19 degrees in the hottest summer months and ensure that it is still running at least an hour after you leave the room. The refrigerator in the room was also turned off when I left the room, which was a bummer. Maybe automatically offer guests two cards so that the refrigerator and air conditioner work longer. Wall-to-wall carpet also creates and stores a lot of dust and should be avoided in hotels in my opinion. I know the English have wall-to-wall carpet on the brain, so I have tried to look through my fingers regarding that problem. (I have even experienced wall to wall carpet around the toilet and right next to the shower in the bathrooms in England?!!?) :o) LOL When you first choose to have a thick wall to wall carpet in a hotel room, this should be cleaned with a steam cleaner at least once a month and vacuumed daily. Free lending of smaller portable air purifiers that you can plug in right next to the bed or in a corner of the room could also be a good alternative to solve the dust problem temporarily or for those who suffer from allergies to dust etc. Using slightly lighter or warmer colors in the interior of the rooms is also a good idea. Installing soap dispensers on the wall in an otherwise somewhat narrow shower right where you need space to turn around was also completely idiotic. This should be located at the back or at the very end of the shower. I wonder which craftsman installed this, here it may seem like there was a lack of common sense when installing the soap dispenser. LOL
"Perfect"
Top notch in every way! Special mentions for Alison on her knowledge of all good things punk and ska, and Mel for patiently listening to our drunken ramblings at 1am!
"Stop off on way"
The area is terrible, looks like a 3rd world country, and I'm from Rochdale, but the hotel itself was nice. Check in was nice and easy. We were shown something to scan to pay for parking. Next morning though no one was at reception, I tried scanning the QR codes on my phone but nothing was happening, turns out I had to take the paper to the machine to be scanned, this should have been made more clear the night before. Rooms very comfy and breakfast nice
"Premier Plus Room"
Comfy bed, friendly staff, brilliant breakfast, lovely shower (choice of waterfall or normal removeable shower head). Air-con is too hot for sleep, even at its lowest temperature. Duvet is too thick/heavy for my preference. Instructions for the coffee machine required. I was also unsure of the difference between the coffee pods provided.
"Perfect location and friendly staff."
This a modern hotel with a tasteful designed interior in the entrance, bar and restaurant. The breakfast is superb, all the staff go out of the way to assist hotel guests, the room was perfect, the air conditioning was greatly appreciated, the hotel is very quiet due to the thick glass in the windows. Everything you need is all near to the hotel, there is a plethora of choices for restaurants all within walking distance. I could not find any faults and never been disappointed when staying there.
