Salisbury North Bishopdown hotel

I’ve stayed at Premier Inn Salisbury North Bishopdown several times in the past and have always enjoyed the experience, particularly the convenience and quality of dining at the adjacent Hampton Inn. Unfortunately, my most recent stay was a real disappointment. The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable, as I would expect from Premier Inn, although there was a slight whiff of drains during my stay which did detract from the experience. The biggest disappointment, however, was discovering that the Hampton Inn has now closed. Instead, the only onsite dining option is “The Social”. In my opinion, this feels like several rooms have simply been knocked through to create a rather uninspiring canteen-style dining area. The atmosphere and overall experience are a significant downgrade from what the Hampton Inn previously offered. The choice of draught beer was particularly disappointing, with just Heineken or Moretti available. Combined with the food offering and what I felt was poor value for money, it simply didn’t provide the enjoyable dining experience I had previously associated with this Premier Inn. It’s a shame, because I have previously enjoyed my stays here and specifically valued having the Hampton Inn next door. The change to “The Social” has, in my view, taken away a significant part of what made this location appealing. Sadly, based on this experience, I won’t be returning to Premier Inn Salisbury North Bishopdown. The accommodation remains perfectly adequate, but the loss of the Hampton Inn and its replacement with The Social has made a substantial difference to the overall experience — and not for the better.

Decent premier inn, nice staff. Clean and comfortable room. Quiet in the evening too (and which was a Saturday night). Breakfast is usual although the breakfast room itself was small and very hot. We had a family room for three but only two mugs provided which was over sight. Recommended if you need a night stopping over in the area at decent price.

Conveniently located at the north end of Salisbury with the town centre just five minutes away (an Aldi sits five minutes walk away, and there are at least another couple of major supermarkets within five minutes drive!) . Stonehenge was only about a twenty-five minute drive and of course there’s the cathedral in the centre of town as well. The room was reasonably spacious this visit as had no kids with us. The “twin” room was essentially the exact same as the “family” room that we’d stayed in a fortnight earlier, but without the cluttered addition of a sofa-bed and camp-bed. Annoyingly, there’s no large workspace/sideboard in the room, just a rather small dining-style table. The hotel is divided into two detached blocks, and we were again allocated a room in the rear block, further away from the main road and although there’s a railway line just a 100yds away, there was very little noise. The beds were comfortable and the room (on the first floor with no elevator as far as we could tell) was quiet and (mostly) clean - the bins hadn’t been emptied after the previous occupant but at least the linen appeared to have all been replaced. Plenty of USB sockets and an easily accessible HDMI socket on the TV. There is a free WiFi hotspot but the performance varied between atrocious and worse than 80’s (yes, I meant the 80’s) dial-up! There’s a premium version, though I opted to just use my phone and tethered the connection instead. We didn’t dine in, but I believe there is (at least for now) restaurant attached to the hotel. There seemed to be ample parking, though the spaces were quite tight if you have a large modern SUV. Remember to register your car at check-in - I suspect it’s the usual CarPark Cowboys that run the car park. Value wise, there were a couple of cheaper options that we found, but the Premier Inn was convenient, by no means extortionately priced, and although I was disappointed at the lack of a decent desk, overall the room was perfectly adequate. Would happily stay here again if back in the area.

Aug 17th 2026. Room was actually good but food and drink offering let it down. Pub/Restaurant attached to hotel sadly closed down. “Social” cafe was closed when I checked in and not open until 5pm. Air conditioning clearly broken and boiling hot in there. Even though I went down when it was really quiet I couldn’t be seated for a meal alone until 18:15! There was hardly anyone in there and only 5 came after me until I was allowed a menu. Tiny cafe for all the hotel guests so dreading breakfast time. Staff doing their best but clearly have their hands tied to offer better service which is sad.

Excellent location and plenty of parking, really clean and decent bathroom. We had premier plus but no complimentary water in the room so had to contact reception. Breakfast was a total disaster, first morning restaurant full of families and unruly children messing around with the food and drinks, really small restaurant so hardly any tables free. We ended up having a quick breakfast and then taking our coffee back to our room to relax. Next morning no eggs or beans because they had run out!!! The rest of the food looked inedible so we ended up getting a refund. It is such a shame that premier now puts emphasis on families with discounts and free breakfast which was a huge part of the going away experience. We always enjoyed our breakfast which is normally relaxing and a nice start to the day.
