Marlborough hotel

Staff are always very pleasant and do everything they can to help. Location is quiet and all rooms are air conditioned. A good hotel for the money in an area of the country that is poorly served. Stay about 20 - 30 nights per year for last 3 or 4 years and service is always consistent. Occasional supply chain issues that mean the odd disruption to foodstuffs - eg. particular type of cereal but not to the degree to destroy breakfast and alternates generally available. But helpfulness and cheerful staff ensure return visits.

Dirty entrance / cigarette butts/ broken chair/stains on pavement directly at entrance No Reception staff/no staff at all on ground floor - had to wait 15 mins before they arrived. Despite pressing buzzer. Very rarely saw staff at reception for rest of stay. This is terrible for security! didn't feel safe and felt it was very easy for somebody to enter and find their way to the room floors Self check in did not work as no blank key cards to program for room In Room - no hot water (rectified later by staff) Walls full of dirty marks and scuffs, windowsill had horrible brown stain/ bed mattress was very poor and too soft/worn Lifts - buttons held on with sellotape - I have photos. Lift doors filthy full of marks and spills. Reception area sparse and unwelcoming, plus wind had blown in above mentioned cigarette butts, and leaves and this was not cleaned up during our 2 night stay. Fire alarm went off at 12.30pm on the first night and there was no fire. But of course everybody was woken up! So not a good sleep. We will never stay Premier Inn anymore they are dirty, scuffy, tired and not secure (just like Travelodge). All down to cost cutting by Whitbread

This Premier Inn needs a bit of management. It looks good on the outside and the air conditioning worked very well which was a bonus and the main reason we booked it. The negatives - no key cards at reception so couldn’t do an auto check in, dirty sheet on the spare sofa bed so had to request a new one and definitely hadn’t been vacuumed in parts of the room and the areas around the lifts and hallways. We like Premier Inn but this one needs some management focus and a bit of a clean!

From the moment we entered our room I knew this was not going to be good....curtain was hanging off its hooks and barely any toilet paper! Both things were sorted by the very friendly and helpful staff which is the only reason for 2 stars. The bed was dipping in places and we had a terrible night's sleep which we did not expect. Breakfast was a disaster being served cold food along with a cold cappuccino...when we mentioned it to staff they said the coffee machine has been playing up for a while so why hadn't it been mended!!! We have stayed at many Premier Inns and this was the worst one we have stayed in. We would not recommend a stay here.

ive been staying in premier inns for years through work and the food in this one is 10x better than any ive stayed in! i believe the chefs name is charlie and hes absolutely incredible, the hosts are brilliant too scott was very welcoming
