Chippenham hotel

Location was ok, as it was close to a supermarket and Burger king, ample space for parking. Rooms where of good size, airy and modern, nice restaurant with tasty breakfast.

We have recently returned from a 2 night stay and, having been a little concerned from recent reviews, wanted to record our observations. Our Plus room on the first floor (109) was very clean, everything worked as it should (including a hot and powerful shower) and had a view over surrounding countryside. The restaurant was until very recently a Brewers Fayre but is now only open to hotel guests - this has led to a much quieter and more relaxed atmosphere, enabling staff to provide a friendly and efficient service. We were also pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu on offer and although drinks choice has reduced, this is understandable bearing in mind the recent changes and demand. Breakfast was equally impressive, with efficient and friendly staff who were frequently topping up and replacing items and ensuring tables were promptly cleared and cleaned. We have been using the Premier inn brand for many years and all in all we would have to say this was one of our more enjoyable experiences, so thank you to all the staff we encountered for your friendliness and professionalism.

Booked a Premier Inn Plus room with a clear expectation of what we should receive. Extra comforts and added perks are part of the advertised package. However, the room we checked into had none of these additional features. It was basic in the extreme and not even clean. The promised ‘air conditioning’ kept us awake all night as it was somehow linked to other bathrooms. It was loud in the extreme and the reception staff could do nothing about it. Avoid at all cost!

We stayed in Premier Inn to break up a long journey. We chose a premier room which was very nice and good value. We opted for dinner and breakfast packages. This was mediocre but we were lucky……at least our evening meal eventually arrived after 1 1/2 hours and was edible. Many other guests gave up after long waits or left in disgust as the food was so awful and we heard several people complain of “worst meals they had ever had.” Breakfast was ok although veggie sausages I had appeared to be made of rubber…..I couldn’t even cut them.

Hotel needs some serious modernisation to be valued at £145 per night for room only. Breakfast was not good mainly because of the vegan options requested that were not cooked and could not be cut with a knife.
