Leeds South (Birstall) hotel

Staffing levels have fallen below what is needed to run this branch. At 0830pm, had to wait almost 10 minutes for manager to arrive to check me in, as she was serving in the restaurant and the first member of staff I met started to check me in, but had to abort because she told me she was not qualified to take my payment. When manager arrived tired and stressed, there was no welcome, no smile and no eye contact, just fatigue and the strong impression that I was a bit of a nuisance interrupting her bar/restaurant work. I had to provide the cues as to which room I had and where to go to reach my room. Next morning, as she had wearily predicted, there was no chef and no cooked breakfast for anyone. It's a nice newish venue which is well kept, but without adequate staffing levels it cannot run right for the guests!

Great stay at this hotel when attending a friends wedding nearby. Paid for early check in which was ideal & got the room about lunchtime. Lovely breakfast before we left the next day too, what more do you need!

This hotel was lovely and clean and well situated with lots of parking. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a few issues..first we asked for the room to be cleaned and it was not. We had put the sign on the door to request this. Cleaners had clearly been in because they had taken the wine glasses we used and dirty towels but not topped up tea and coffee stuff or cleaned the bathroom..it was left as we left it with the dirty towels still on the floor. Went down to reception and the lovely man there did this himself and was very apologetic. We had paid for 2 breakfasts each morning we were there but on the second morning the chef didn’t turn up so even though we paid for cooked we had to make do with cereals and cold stuff..people were not happy and went to McDonald’s. Staff were helpful and apologetic and said we should get a refund but that’s not been forthcoming yet despite contacting customer relations. In short the hotel was acceptable staff were nice and friendly ideal situated but I wouldn’t pay for breakfast or room cleaning because you might not get it

My room was hot, very hot, had fan on all night and morning. Bar selection, very, very limited and a lager (no bitter) cost me over £6! Original restaurant now closed and Thyme opened up, but foods okay. Breakfast okay but slow. It’s just the staff that stop me from giving 2 stars. Staff are very friendly.

Booked this hotel particularly because it had EV charging so very disappointed to find on arrival that the ev points were not working as they has been vandalised some two months before. Surely a note to this effect on the website would have been helpful. Fortunately by luck I found a rapid ev charger within a mile of the hotel - it would have helped if reception had told me about the local ev charger but they didn't. The hotel was very good in all other respects.
