"Dreadful hard bed. Staff incapable of assisting."
We went to this hotel as it was the closest we could afford for a much looked forward to the Great Yorkshire Show. Unfortunately that night the bed was rock hard, and as I have Polymyalgia, every time I tried to turn my arms were in agony. There is no ‘give’ at all in these mattresses. It may as well have n=been filled with straw. By 4am I was pacing the floor, so tired. Went to reception for help, only to be told they couldn’t help as the hotel was full. I told the receptionist we wouldn’t want to stay for our 2nd night then as I couldn’t go through another night like this and wanted to cancel. He said he can’t help at all so to call a number from a card he gave me. I did so at 9am and was given a massive run around, being passed from pillar to post. I was then informed the we couldn’t cancel till after we checked out! I told them we had, but was told I needed to call again today. I did so and was told I could not get a refund as we had not paid the ‘flex’ rate. We had still paid £200+ though for 2 nights! I pointed out they offered a ‘good night guarantee’ and was informed…wait for it…they have new Silentnight mattresses, and if you sleep on one of those, the ‘good night guarantee’ is not valid!!! What an absolute crock!! Needless to say, Premier Inn can stick it, and although I have used them so many times over many years, we will NEVER again choose to stay in one. Also, be warned, should you choose that particular hotel, the entrance/exit is very awkward and fairly dodgy.
"Avoid"
Sad to say we did not have a good experience here. We stayed one night before our holiday and also paid for the "meal deal" which included a two-course evening meal with a soft drink and breakfast the next morning. We checked fine, the receptionist was friendly and Informative, it started to go south from there really. The room was tired and in need of a lick of paint and the woodwork was scratched and scuffed. The room could have benefited from the use of a feather duster as well. The shower was dirty and struggled to maintain pressure. There was a small leak at the back of the toilet which left a puddle on the floor. In the evening we went to the restaurant for something to eat, they were having renovation works done so they had a limited menu. There was a good bit of choice if you wanted a burger but you were pretty much stuffed if you wanted anything else. We chose garlic mushrooms and loaded nachos for starters, wish we hadn't. Mushrooms had no garnish and came with some tomato sauce to dip...? The nachos were stale and just as badly presented, so we abandoned our meal and asked for a refund at reception, which was sorted without a quarrel. Our night did not improve. The room was way too hot and there was no air conditioning and the window opened to such a small degree that it allowed absolutely no airflow at all. The bed was comfortable apart from the heavy duvet which would have been too much even in the depths of winter! We removed the duvet from its sleeve and saw how stained it was. After a night of barely any sleep we went for breakfast and we're equally as disappointed as we were with our evening meal. The hotel breakfast was "cooked to order" however our hash browns and fried eggs had been sat under a heat lamp for so long that the eggs were like rubber with grey yolks and the hash browns were hollow... Needless to say we abandoned the breakfast too and asked for a refund at reception. I could have continued but I have better things to do. In short. Book elsewhere until a complete refurbishment has been done.
"A basic room in a location we wanted"
Biggest bed we have had in a Premier Inn stay that was really comfortable. Shower was just a mixer on bath taps so a bit tricky. only one relaxing chair - the other was a desk type chair and no table (so if you wanted to have a drink / eat something it wasn't good)
"A handy and relaxing stay in Headingley with a warm welcome"
The hotel is in a splendid position for a comfortable stay near the cricket and rugby stadium, short walk down the road in an area of handy shops and restaurants. The standard of Premier Inn comfort was as good as we've come to expect at their hotels, including their great catering for people like us with feather allergies and dietary requirements. We arrived in a heatwave but the aircon in in our bedroom managed well. The Premier Inn breakfast, which is generous and delicious, was served in full in a pleasant restaurant area, mostly to serve yourself but it was easy to ask staff for the cooked-to-order bits such as scrambled eggs and veggie sausages/rashers. The luggage room at reception was very useful. Every member of stuff we spoke to, whether at reception, in the restaurant or domestic staff, was both welcoming and helpful.
"Quite a find!"
I stayed at the Premier Inn Leeds Headingly for 3 nights in May followed by another night on my return from a trip abroad. A big thank you to Sabrina for going above and beyond to make sure I had a room that suited me. Nothing was too much trouble. I had read the reviews and wanting a quiet room on the top floor I asked for a room that overlooked the amazing view I had read about looking out over Leeds and people's gardens She gave me just such a room, right at the end of the corridor away from lifts, stairs and corridor doors, with a stunning view. It also had a bathroom with an outward facing window so I had natural light coming through opaque glass. It was a good size too. The staff are so friendly. They made such a difference to my stay. I had stayed at other Premier Inns and found the Thyme restaurant to be a bit of let down so wasnt expecting much. I was pleasantly suprised to find a bright, modern and clean restaurant with everything I needed on hand. I didnt wait long when I ordered a meal and could find everything I needed. The room could have been a little cleaner in places and I thought just one hand towel and one bath towel was a little mean. Some of the towels had stains on unfortunately. The room was comfortable, spacious and the air conditioning worked perfectly. I found the pillows on the bed too hard but found other pillows tucked away in the cupboard area which were fine for me. I slept well. I really liked the Baylis and Harding toiletries in the bathroom, much nicer than what used to be on offer. A huge plus was that there is a Sainsburys, a Boots and a Greggs on the ground floor together with a Superdrug and being about to head off on holiday it covered anything I might have forgotten. I would recommend that you phone the hotel direct with any requests regarding your stay because the initial email I sent was never replied to. Also I would recommend trying again if you don't get through on the phone the first time because Reception can get really busy at certain periods and they do try to get to everyone as quickly as they can. I loved the fact you could pick up extra milk, tea and coffee in reception and amentiy kits were for sale in aid of a local charity together with a book exchange. The hotel was everything I needed and I will be returning for future trips up north.
