Castleford (Xscape, M62 J32) hotel

Over the years stayed in many many premier inns across the country. Mainly happy with the quality/service as you knew what you were getting as standard re warm check in/comfy bed/spotless room/quality sleep. No longer the case and it’s frankly disgusting that Premier Inn no longer have standards across the chain. I’m sure there are some very hard working staff but something is wrong. The rooms throughout the chain are dirty/maintenance none existent /paintwork/marks on walls/general dirt/stains. Just unclean, uncared for rooms. What’s changed? Either the staff are given too much to do or just don’t care? Either way it’s not acceptable. The welcome we got at Junction 32 or should I say lack of it was not great. One staff member busy checking in guests the other just ignored us totally didn’t even say just give me a minute & I’ll be with you. It was 3.35pm so no way the whole of the hotel was full when check in started 35 mins ago & the carpark was empty. Heard bad reports about the noise from antisocial behaviour/boy car racers so requested a quiet room at the back of the hotel. ‘No you have been allocated a front room & we are full’ sorry that won’t wash with me!! Simply stated no way had everyone for that evening already checked in so no reason why we couldn’t be moved. To which she stated it’s ’not that it’s we keep the back rooms for families’ not my problem I’m paying the same rate. She took a good 5/10 minutes trying to change the room but in the end we got a dirty quiet room at the rear of the hotel. I don’t live near my family so have no choice to stay in hotels when I visit but I’m running out of Premier Inns within a 20 mile radius. I just want a clean/maintained/comfy/quiet room with a warm welcome. It’s not difficult so why are Premier Inns getting this so wrong??

Our shower was broken, the on and off was stiff, the temperature you couldn't change since the handle was stuck and also was half hanging off when moved, this resulted in a constant burning hot temperature. We in the end couldnt use the shower. We told front desk, when they checked while we were out we came back and were told the temperature does move a little but is stiff. We went back and couldn't move the temperature at all (an adult man couldn't move it). We were offered a new room but it was a downgrade from what we had so we decided to keep the room since we paid £135 for it. In addition, the shower then dripped all night... Not impressed since we've been here before and had a perfect room and service. Complaint will be made...

Brilliant and fast booking service present staff very friendly comfortable stay would recommend upon arrival greated warmly fast checkin and comfy bed very spacious room

Hotel nice and clean, breakfast was nice, check-in friendly (initially they had not made the 2nd bed up even know we had booked a family room for 3 people, this was sorted as soon as I brought this to there attention) The bathroom was the dirtiest I have ever seen in any of the premier inn hotel’s (mould and grime around the bath handles, bath tap plug) I discussed this with the hotel and they acted

Stayed here last night, the room was absolutely boiling, no windows that open, air-conditioning only goes down to 19 degrees, asked at reception for a fan but they didn't have any. Despite the very comfortable spacious bed, we hardly slept. It was a shame really because the hotel was very clean and friendly and the breakfast was plentiful ( self service ) good quality and good value for money. I would stay here again but not during a heat wave.
