Castleford (Xscape, M62 J32) hotel

Great experience , useful location and great service. Terri our server at the restaurant was brilliant- great with my little boy and really helpful and friendly

Fantastic staff, so helpful. We had a meal i the restaurant and it was by far the best meal we had in a attached restaurant. Food was so good. And Terri served us and was so helpful and lovely.

So we recently stayed here at castleford after staying at many premier inns I have to say we were really disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. We upgraded to a premier plus room. To start we couldn’t open the curtains as it was attached to the other curtain rail to then discover the window would not open at all. Upon speaking to reception we were informed this was a “security measure” but yet other windows on our floor including the room next door were able to open theirs slightly. As we were there for a family funeral we went about our business and didn’t get back to the room until late that night. That’s when we noticed all the other issues. The cleanliness can only be described as disgusting. The coffee machine was filthy, the fridge area was so dusty it hadn’t seen a cloth in months. The bathroom was the even dirtier, the skirting was filthy, the fan didn’t work, there was mould in the shower, the big shower head didnt work as the water kept coming over the top and the smaller shower head was covered in mould. As we had already been lied to about the window , we felt that head office really needed to be made aware of the cleanliness issues as had we informed the hotel directly then the room would have just been cleaned and nothing would have been done, It’s a shame because the public areas are spotless and the hotel itself is in a brilliant location and close to lots of amenities. Head offices reply left us even more dissapointed, they didn’t even ask to see the photos/videos, so feel we now have no choice than to leave this review and show you the state of our room so you can decide for yourself weather to stay here or not.

Booked our stay on line, on arrival our booking hadn't been received. Totally my fault, didn't complete the info correctly. I was so stressed as it was a treat for my wife's birthday. The desk lady Sarah H took full control and was so calm and helpful considering my miserable face (lol). I can't express our thanks enough to her, as she saved the day with her kindness and professional attitude. My wife and would recommend this hotel, it certainly looks after the customers. We shall be seeing you again soon Sarah. You save our day and looks after us. Thank you so much.x

Things didn’t go too well at this hotel, there was no particularly friendly welcome or family feel to this premier inn despite its handy location close to family attractions. We quickly dropped off our bags to our room and then headed to the restaurant, which was quite quiet, to be told that there was a 15 minute wait for a table. We had already ordered some drinks so sat in the bar area to wait. The table never materialised and after 30 minutes we left to eat elsewhere. Luckily there is lots of choice close by. Although advertised with air conditioning, the room was hot and did not cool down to a comfortable temperature for sleeping. We had the window open but then had the noise of boy racers meeting in the large retail car park, revving engines and playing music all night. It was a truly awful night’s sleep. We checked out without breakfast so never set foot in the restaurant. We use premier inns regularly and this is one that we would definitely not return to. Premier inn need to be working with the local police in relation to the anti social behaviour taking place and affecting hotel guests. The rooms need fans to compensate for the inadequate ‘air conditioning’ .
