"Good (and BAD)"
Let's start with the good bits. Car parking is in the close by Leisure Exchange car park which had plenty of space and was only £1.50 per 24 hours. The room (we went for Premier Plus) was also good. Nicely presented. Well equipped and very clean. The hotel is also very well located for the city centre Now the bad bits. Whilst the room was nice and clean, the public areas were not. In particular the area outside the lifts on the ground floor was very dirty with many stains on the carpet. Clearly not much cleaning goes on here. On our first evening, there was an 'Uber Eats' receipt on the floor of the lift. By the second evening it was in the area outside the lifts on the ground floor and there it stayed. The guy on reception when we checked in was fine. However, on the first morning, as you have to do in many PI's (and as suggested on the notice you put on the door handle), I went to reception and requested the room be serviced. The lady behind the counter, wearing a scruffy denim jacket, looked at me as if I had three heads and advised the rooms are not normally changed before a guest leaves and asking me what I wanted doing to the room! This went on until another member of staff advised that yes, you do need to inform reception if you want the room servicing! Even then, the denim clad receptionist said something along the lines of 'what, you want the supplies replenishing and clean towels'. Breakfast on the first morning (9.15 when breakfast is served until 11.00) was dire. No juice to start with although eventually someone did replenish. Only one rather sad looking egg. Little of anything else (and what there was there was luke warm) and no pastries. We were lucky in getting in when we did. Many arrived after us and had to wait for a table - and whilst some things were clearly replenished, no pastries ever arrived. Also, I did find it rather distasteful that a cage containing dirty sheets and towels was just behind the breakfast buffet clearly awaiting collection by the laundry. Not great. On the second morning we were a little earlier and the buffet was well stocked. Plenty of everything although much of the 'hot food' was again luke warm. All in all, a mediocre stay. Better managed, this could be a great hotel but clearly not very vell managed.
"Very nice."
The room smelt very badly of smoke. Not a staff fault. But it was bad. Staff gave us a purifier but it didn't help much. Still smelt in the morning.
"Abrupt and rude receptionist"
Another lovely stay in Bradford just spoilt by the abrupt receptionist on arrival. We arrived at 2pm after a long drive, and asked would it be possible to check in as we were meeting friends at 3pm, never been a problem in the several previous occasions, but was told very abruptly NO, check in is 3pm so she would have to charge us £15 or otherwise come back at 3pm, we decided to wait in the bar area but couldn't get a drink whilst we waited as there was nobody serving. The receptionist left at 2.30 and a lovely young girl took over, my husband asked if we could check in and she said yes no problem, the room was available. I understand that there are rules but surely they could have a pro rata early check in fee, £15 is to check in from 11am, £15 is a bit steep for 1 hour when it was quiet and the room was available. Think this lady needs some customer service training, there was no need to be so rude and abrupt.
"Usual Prem Inn standard"
As per usual the Premier inn always provides a consistently good value stay. Any small problems are always sorted out by the staff who are always helpful and polite. The city centre location was excellent and the room comfortable as they always are.
"Warm welcome at Bradford Central"
As with all Premier Inns, fluffy white towels and crisp white sheets. I had upgraded (for a very small fee) to Premium room and impressed with the layout. It was handy to have an armchair, the shower was excellent and the room was very quiet so I slept like a log.
