"Not advisable during a heat wave!"
The hotel on 1st impression looks quite tired & unwelcoming but the lady who greeted us on reception was lovely. Our room was on the 2nd (top) floor, 4 sets of stairs, no lift. We walked into our room & the heat took the air from your lungs! It was ridiculously hot despite the window being open to its maximum (barely a crack due to the restrictor bar). There was a modern fan which we put on which did offer some relief. The room itself was small & modern with only slight signs of wear. The bathroom & shower, over bath was also nice. We stayed for 3 nights & I can honestly say, I have never slept so bad in my life! Nor have I ever felt the need to sleep with not so much as a thin sheet covering me, but it was the only option! The pillows were awful, the mattress rock hard. Sleeping with the fan was super noisy & made my hair constantly blow around, making me tickle & itch. Sleeping without it was not an option door to the extreme heat 31° with the fan ON full blast! It was that bad that when trying to get ready for our friends wedding my hair was literally getting wet through swear as it dried! My makeup was a mess & so I had to give up trying! I don’t understand why air conditioning wasn’t added to the rooms during the recent refurb! We used the bar on site the first night, I couldn’t make out whether the guy serving was having a moan about the takeover by the hotel of the bar or was having a go at us for enquiring about draft beers, all beers are bottled, no draft! We learnt that the bar & restaurant will be going as that part of the site is going to be converted into more rooms. That’s a shame as a decent bar & restaurant on site, would perhaps encourage us to return during less extreme weather. As it stands, the bar isn’t decent. It was very tired & smelly. We went for breakfast the following morning. It wasn’t all buffet, the English breakfast, though “limitless” had to be ordered on arrival & took some time to get to the table (around an hour), despite not being busy, so the chances of anyone ordering more was pretty slim! However it wasn’t bad & the refillable coffee from the machine was actually really good, the staff were lovely & the continental buffet was decent, was great to see crumpets on there & a proper 4 slice toaster. For £10.99 it was good. Going back to the room issues. The tap water didn’t taste right, with having stomach issues anyway I didn’t want to risk drinking it if it came from a roof tank. I did mention this to a member of staff but she didn’t confirm either way. It came out of the tap quite warm. She did go & get 2 glasses of water, with ice from the restaurant for us which was nice as I’d been having to pay £2.70 each for a small bottle of cold water from the vending machine! It might’ve been an idea, given that the hotel was aware of the extreme temperatures in the rooms, for them to have supplied each room with cold, bottled, water. A mini fridge might be an idea for the future too. There were ample amounts of tea/coffee supplies available though, so at least that was something. If I had to stay here again, I’d request a ground floor room, bring my own pillow & stock up on water, though honestly, I think we could find better accommodation for the same money if we were to look. We stayed here because our friends were with us & were staying here. They had a ground floor room which was hot but no where near as hot as our room was.
"This is an excellent Premier Inn.."
Use lots of Premier Inn's as we go about life. You know what you are getting and more or less what to expect. The accommodation at Worthing Premier Inn is the best we have ever seen. Maybe recently refitted but new decor, carpet, funky furniture (no desk) and the bathroom very modern and clean. Restaurant is seperate and tired and needs attention. Food was ok to good (Breakfast). Staff superb, better than others we found, We'd stay again here for sure.
      "No WiFi"
No WiFi available (either free or paid), despite what it said online at the time of booking, and this didn’t seem to be a one-off occurrence. The hotel also seems to be in a low signal area, so in my room on the ground floor, I also had no mobile data or network available, leaving me completely uncontactable overnight. On the plus side, despite the lack of a/c (which I was aware of beforehand), the room was relatively cool during the heatwave, and a fan was provided.
"Nice place to stay, don't be put off by the looks outside!"
Lovely room, nice and quiet with comfortable bed. no air conditioning but there's a large floor fan. No traffic noise from outside. Everything was of a good standard, all staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is served in pub next door & although the food and service were excellent, the whole place would definately benefit an upgrade with a good lick of paint on the outside. We would stay at this premierinn again.
      "Surprisingly disappointing"
We have stayed here many times over the last 20 years when visiting family. Check-in was easy and we had a quiet room at the back of the hotel. The first things we noticed was that the bin had not been emptied and the tea/coffee supplies had not been replenished. The bed linen looked crumpled when it usually looks fresh. It did appear to have been changed though just not presented very well. Two of our towels were in the bath but again they appeared fresh but had fallen off the rail. The bar area downstairs no longer appears to operate as a pub and it was devoid of any customers and the usual hubbub. There are no draught beers anymore either. It’s now just a soulless space. At breakfast the next morning our hot food order was taken(no buffet service) and was placed on the table a few minutes later as we were halfway through a bowl of cereal. No offer was made to take it away and keep it warm. The only items that retained any warmth were the eggs which I suspect were the only items freshly cooked. Altogether the worst breakfast experience we’ve had in this hotel.
