Solihull South (M42) hotel

Front entrance had over flowing rubbish bins. Rooms were fine and had a great sleep. Breakfast was a total disappointment. Raw bacon, the whole selection of cooked breakfast was not available at the same time so had to eat in 2 settings. One of Our party was gluten free so ordered veggie sausages that came out raw and frozen in the middle along with gluten free toast that was just warm wet bread. They have lost there big restaurant across the road so have made a breakfast room from a couple of there bedrooms on the ground floor so it’s very small. The 2 lady’s that were in the kitchen were totally overwhelmed and I would say not really chef’s just members of staff from the hotel trying to cook. Would not stay at this one again. Sadly because of the collapse of brewers fairs I fear a lot of the premier inns that don’t have inbuilt restaurants are Likely to be the same.

Absolutely the worst Premier Inn we have ever stayed in. Food was shocking, we had breakfast on all 3 days of our stay and on 2 occasions the food had to go back as either cold and under cooked or cold and over cooked. In the end we opted for the self cooked toast and just asked for eggs to be on the safe side. Every day there were items not available and we constantly had to ask for things to be provided, like plates, glasses, fruit , milk, pastries etc. service was shocking, the toilet at the bar had no toilet paper in it for 2 days and had not been cleaned with excrement on the seat. Entrance was shabby and the outside bin was overflowing until finally being emptied when we left (3 days) As regular users of Premier Inn and huge fans of what they usually offer, this was such a shocking departure and as such we will question whether we look at using them in the future

Stayed for 1 night after all day at NEC. The worst Premier Inn we have stayed at. Staff friendly but overworked. Room was ok, nothing special, but the restaurant was a disaster area. Cramped, understaffed, and with a poor menu. We were lucky in getting glasses of wine, but other guests were told they had run out of wine glasses because some were broken 2 days before. Really! Breakfast buffet was incredibly disorganised- had to ask 4 or 5 times for no cutlery, no cups, no eggs etc. everything done last minute. Avoid.

Good location for NEC. Room dated and tired. Bathroom fan did not appear to work & evidence of mould. Bed was comfortable and a quiet night. The restaurant/social area was clean & modern but very under-staffed for the number of guests on site. Meals/breakfast time was a sham and waiting times for food was very poor. One staff member could not cope with the demands of keeping crockery, products, juices, drinks, dirty cutlery & take all the orders and delivery of the cooked food. The second morning the cooked breakfast was self service but one chef could not keep up with the demand of the guests. It was very disorganised. Not the standard expected of a Premier Inn. In need of TLC. Shame the staff were polite and pleasant.

Arrival in the dark is not recommended as quite desolate location due to the closed down restaurant. Staff friendly. Food very poor. Avoid the 'burrito bowl - it is essentially soggy rice and baked beans, with under-cooked tough chicken on top (not convinced it was chicken).
