Coventry City Centre (Belgrade Plaza) hotel

Greeted rudely by reception, refused entry without my partners ID when we had traveled 2 hours to arrive. I appreciate they have the right to ask for ID (at the discretion of the manager)- as stated to us rudely by a staff member in no uniform behind the desk. Received absolutely no discretion from manager (despite this being specified in the policy) and us being able to offer a live FaceTime of the ID and passport. Staff laughing at us and asking obnoxious questions. Offered us no help despite them knowing we were unable to get the ID and sent back to the street! Once driving 2 hours to collect the ID, the room was OK. Breakfast was small portions, with forgotten items and no hot buffet. Took 30 mins to arrive so couldn’t order anymore food within the time limit of 11am- “unlimited breakfast” Worst hotel service i’ve ever experienced purely due to the staff.

I stayed here yesterday after arriving in Coventry and looking for somewhere in the centre. I was offered a standard room for £127 or a Premier Plus room for £145, I opted for the Plus. Upon arrival, the hotel was extremely quiet and the reception somewhat uninviting. I checked in to my room and noticed on the way how filthy the lifts were as I went to the 4th floor. Once I had got to my room, I noticed that it was very big and empty and had no desk (unlike previous Plus rooms I've stayed). The bed was very low and then I noticed how small and low the bath was. It then became clear as they had allocated me an Accessible Room. I popped back down to reception and highlighted that I didn't book an accessible room and requested one with normal height bed and bathroom facilities. She gave me a family room on the floor above but it turned out that this was not a Plus room. Unfortunately, it came with free hairs in the bath and around the toilet, a white stain across the corner of the bed and again, had no desk. Getting the impression that these staff didn't really care, I decided to just stay there. I ventured to the bar and noticed that the seats were threadbare and then went to the toilet located in the reception area that was completely blocked, full of urine and paper and pee all over the floor. This toilet was literally 15 feet away from where the receptionists sit! When I checked out this morning, one of the guys on the front desk asked me if everything was okay with my stay. I replied that it was just okay but I was disappointed that after paying £145 for a plus room that I had been put in a standard room. After giving him my details, his colleague jumped in and said that I was allocated a Plus room but I chose to change it. He was kind of right, but I explained that I didn't book the accessible room, I booked a normal one. He said that I was given it because they didn't have anything else to offer me. I said that I understood, but they should have told me at the point of booking that they didn't have the room type available and I would have stayed in a standard room at £127 a night, not £145. He refused to refund the difference and I left. I definitely would not stay at this hotel again.

Nice hotel in the centre of the town. The room was very clean and quiet. I would stay in a Premier Inn hotel again but maybe not in Coventry.

Great location!! Breakfast was fresh-cooked and very nice. Staff were welcoming specially Jack was a gem of the hotel. He was superb and provided a great customer service to us. Well done Jack!!

Everything was clean and tidy, breakfast was very nice, staff were friendly and hotel in in a great location for parking and access into the city centre
