      "Less than happy here"
We've stayed here before and found it ok, but these two one-night visits last week were hardly satisfactory. FIRST STAY Accommodation was fine. Clean room etc as expected. A bit warm, but a fan was provided. At check-in the desk wasn't manned. The person had to be summoned from the restaurant. It seems that job covers both areas. We had booked a meal deal. Fine - but on ordering there were no pizzas, no pies, no steaks. Simply not good enough. We were told that the deliveries were to blame. Sorry, but that doesn't wash. No apology offered by server. I thought it a bit bizarre that because I have a cooked cheese allergy I needed to be given freshly hand-washed cutlery. Nice thought, but ???? Breakfast was OK, and to be fair the poached eggs were lovely. But no margarine spread. We had to make do with butter. Generally, service was very slow. Restaurant was quiet with perhaps just 4 or 5 tables in use with 2 servers on duty. SECOND STAY Accommodation, all as above. We did buy a meal deal having discussed our options. Still no pizzas, but there were steaks and pies. So a bit better there. One server on duty, plus the reception person who was seen taking orders at the tables, and again service was slow. I had to ask for our order to be taken, but being fair he was a pleasant chap! Breakfast was ok. No plain yogurt was disappointing, and still no margarine spread and very little butter on display. Stocking up also not good. WOULD I STAY AGAIN? Surprisingly, yes I probably would, because of it's closeness to M5. But it would depend on the price on offer. There it is. Pay your money, take your choice! And yes, I really am a retired hotel manager of a 4* hotel on the edge of Cumbria / Yorkshire.
      "Very poor don't go"
Overall very poor. We had three nights and one day our bed wasn't even made after requesting the room to be done. Old Premier Inn needs demolishing!
"Should have stayed in a different one."
Well where do I start, this hotel doesn't have air conditioning, which I understand and fans were provided, however the sockets by the bed have been replaced with USB ports so good luck using a fan to keep you cool while you sleep. (27.5c at night is not nice.) Went for breakfast, didn't have all of the vegan options (sausages, or sunflower spread), it took 40minutes to get are food, at while point they said the kitchen wasn't working properly and everything was being grilled. (Would have been nice to have been told this before we paid). We asked for another plate of food each at 9:45, we were told they would need to check with the kitchen if they were ok to make it. (Considering unlimited breakfast is until 10:30 on a week day) The second serving came out and was less than half wht we originally ordered. When I went to get toast, 4 plates were dirty, I put these to the side, which the hostess placed back on the clean pile. Toilets in the restaurant were disgusting, dried urine over the floor, disgusting countertops that hadnt been cleaned, same with the toilets. Cigarette bin outside the hotel was broken with days worth's of cigarette ends dumped in a corner, from staff and patrons. Worst Premier Inn I have ever stayed in, avoid at all costs, worth spending extra to go to another one. Positives - Mega Bowl, Cinema and large Morrisons with a cafe.
      "Not in hot weather"
Room ventilation is rubbish the room temperature stayed at 31 degrees all night even with fans going all night apart from that the mattress was the best we have ever had at a premier shame we couldn’t sleep because of the heat
      "Convenient Overnight Stay"
I stayed overnight in the Rubery Premier Inn due to it's proximity to where I was working the following day. Unfortunately it was one of the hottest days of the year, and as this is an older Premier Inn there was no air conditioning in the room, which made getting a good nights sleep difficult, in spite of the good quality of the bed.
