Birmingham South (Longbridge Station) hotel

Location was in a nice area, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was good. The rooms were clean and tidy, there is air con which was a must as there was a heat wave. The hotel was quiet and breakfast was calm. The price was reasonable and it was great value for money. The breakfast was a regular premier inn breakfast and was delicious could. It fault this, good selection of cereals. One thing that I found to be an issue was the toilet paper. It is a must to take your own unless you like the rough stuff 😬 Parking was a few minutes walk and if I was to go alone I would not feel comfortable walking through a multi story car park at nice.

If you are looking for a room with air conditioning..then AVOID this place! We had 4 rooms booked at this hotel and there were issues with all of them, the air con kept turning on and off, at times it would come on but no cold air it was just running doing absolutely nothing, and in one room the air con wasn’t even working we had a 2 year old with us and it was horrible experience we had to keep him cool by leaving the room door open and never mind the endless trips down to reception and back to let them know - all we got back was the classic “turned it on and off” at the main switch- which actually didn’t help in the end. Aside from the air con the rooms were dusty, the headboard had dust on them as did the windows and furniture, considering the windows can’t be opened it was filthy, the place needs a good lick of paint, new carpets and total refurb, my little one has eczema and the stay has triggered a reaction which I know is from the dusty room. Car park is also annoying having to walk back and forth from the multi story car park, as it was summer and there was group of us I didn’t mind but wouldn’t be doing that in the dark or if it was pouring it down. As a whole, horrible experience and never coming back!

Excellent location, great shops and restaurants near by. Short walk to buses and train station..clean basic rooms. Justine on reception was very helpful and had some great recommendations.

We arrived late in the evening to find the reception unmanned. The security guard had to call someone to check us in – security at a Premier Inn... wow! Eventually, a member of staff arrived, took our details and checked us in from a back office because both computers at the front desk were out of service. Once we got to our room, things improved. Although it's one of the older-style Premier Inn properties, the room was clean, tidy and comfortable, so no complaints there. We had booked a two-night stay. When we checked out, the reception desk was once again unattended, so we simply left our key and departed. Overall, the stay was okay, but it lacked any real welcome or personal touch. The whole experience felt impersonal, with very little in the way of customer service. Would I stay here again? Probably not. We only chose this hotel because the location suited other activities we had planned. Parking is available at £6 per day.
