Birmingham Oldbury (M5, Jct2) hotel

A great room which was clean and comfortable, had a great sleep. The room was a great price. Food lovely at the restaurant.

We booked a last-minute double room for two people on a Saturday night. On arrival, we received a lovely welcome from the receptionist, who was warm, friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the hotel itself was rather disappointing. The building felt tired and dated, with a strange, unpleasant smell throughout. Our room was extremely basic and clearly in need of modernisation. The heating wasn’t working, so we had to return to reception to request assistance and were provided with a portable heater. We also noticed small specks of what appeared to be dried blood on one of the pillowcases, which meant another trip to reception for a replacement. The chair in the room had an unpleasant stain, adding to the overall impression that the room needed some attention. The bathroom was equally dated, with flooring that was beginning to lift. There was no full-length mirror or fridge, although storage was adequate. The room did have the usual tea and coffee-making facilities, a kettle, desk area and television with the main channels. On a positive note, the bed was large and very comfortable, and we managed to get a decent night’s sleep. The hotel’s location is convenient, particularly for a short stopover. It sits along a main route, with KFC, petrol stations, shops and several major supermarkets, including Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s, within easy reach. Overall, the hotel served its purpose for a one-night stay, but the standard of accommodation fell short of expectations. The friendly reception staff and comfortable bed were definite positives, but the dated interiors, maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns really let the experience down. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again unless the hotel underwent significant refurbishment. It’s adequate for a quick overnight stop, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a longer stay.

BANGING/ WORKING IN NEXT ROOM AT 7AM BUT THATS OK BY PREMIER INN, room not cleaned , 1 towel for 2 people, no gel for washing , cold food and rude when you complain

Overall experience was very good.. I was staying away here on business from Monday to Friday. Overall atmosphere was pleasant to say it was so busy and sold out on the week i attended. The location was ideal as it was just out of the way from the hustle and bustle but close enought if you wanted to venture out. The restaurant team and cooks were great and worked their backsides off to make sure you were well accommodated. Michelle and Tom from the restaurant and bar especially stood out as a top team making sure every need was met and in a timely manner. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others. If I was to be critical at all I would say the showers were lacking in power for my liking but did the job and no air conditioning in any of the rooms except the premier plus rooms.. but moral of the story is a genuinly decent hotel run by genuinely lovley people 👍.

We stayed in the plus room which looked fairly newly renovated. Everything was great. The room is obviously designed by someone who stays in hotels, as everything well laid out and planned. Staff at check in and out were very friendly, and checked we were happy with our stay. We did the meal deal, not expecting much, and it was fabulous. Tons of choice for us as vegetarians. Again lovely staff in the restaurant who were keen to help.
